I've had this issue for a while, but i've never directly attributed it to TAO.

Sometimes, while playing, my system will lag a bit, then basically it gets worse and worse to the point where I can't do anything (close windows, open anything, even reboot through Windows).

I used to attribute this to a Cysco VPN system I was forced to use on campus, but I don't use it at my home, and I'm still having the problem, ONLY when playing TAO...

Anyone hav any ideas? Sorry I can't be more specific on whether its specific processes that are bogging my system down, but I end up just having to manually reboot my comp each time, and so I can't ever get an accurate idea about whats running and such when it happens.

Actually, I know what you are talking about. But the error is not in TAO, but the Flash Media player.
Sometimes when you are multitasking, and TAO is running, your flash player is running a HUGE file. If something else loads a Flash file, then the two can kind of lag the system out. I've had the warning message come up saying the flash is overusing system resources several times during this.

I am not sure, but I think it has to do with some of the programming in TAO's engine that leads to a memory leak, and cranks up the resource usage of the flash player until it hogs the system.

thats about what i though was happening, didn't realize it was flash related, how odd. So is it a flash error itself, or a TAO programming error in flash?

I think it might be a combination. Since it only happens once in a while on certain systems......

*screams in pain* gods it freakin annoying. I intensly hate losing matches from technical difficulties.

definite combination, working on what specifically causes it.

Its odd, I can go ten games without incident, log out, close the window, come back later, and crash 10 minutes into my first match.

aha...possibly the mud quake causing leak?

i've been recording what was happening in the matches right as the crash occured, so far the last 3 hav been when I was about to use the muddy quake.

Well yeah the muddie quake uses a ton of animation b/c it shakes your screen along with the game. What internet provider do you use? I heard that one internet provider is terrible when it comes to the muddie quake, apperently it freezes the system so that maybe the problem.

Flash Animation, from what I understand, for games is made in something called Macromedia Fireworks and then brought over to Macromedia Flash itself . . . so technically I think it is already multi-tasking. But yeah try turning off the muddie quake and see what happens Mega.

The Mud Quake uses a Browser Effect. Type /fx to disable it. AOL had HUGE problems with the Mudquake, but I have also had some glitches using FireFox with it.

And actually, it is not multitasking on your computer, because only Macromedia Flash in your browser is being used. Fireworks, Flash MX and Studio are not used in the playing of games, only in creation. Otherwise your computer would require them to play the final project, where actually only Flash Player 7 is required.

I dont belive hacking has anything to do with it. maybe a glitch if it happens again then address and i am sure someone will get to it and if you can get the name of that person and a screenshot it will be great.

Megabyte if you are using ibm p3 or less with 256 MB of memory this will keep on happening after all they are not human lol. but it is a fact low memory is a great issue with flash players. maybe upgrading your memory and getting a faster connection will do you good.

actually, its happening mostly on my laptop, which is using an athlong 3.2ghz with 512mb memory, so I doubt its a direct Ram issue. Plus I normally play from my wireless setup to the cable modem in my apt, which while can get a bit slow (for its type of connection) shouldn't cause any lag for something as simple as TAO.

i run into the same problem on my laptop it is just the connection lag that is all. i think!
