How do you get new units like the Golems and such...

you either get a gold account (you get frost golem and a scout at start, plus any updates) or hope for a random drop, which either gold or non-gold members can get. they're five per day, and you have to win the game to get it. they're not top-teir. a message appears on the chat screen while playing saying **THE WINNER OF THIS GAME GETS A [UNIT] or something to that effect, to let you know.

Easiest way to get units is to just register and get a gold account. Or you could hope for a unit drop, which do not happen very often. There is no way to win a unit merely by winning X number of games.
