Since I graduated 8th grade three years ago i'll try to help you out.
1. Avoid the band. When you pick on one you turn around and there are 15 of them.
2. Avoid all jocks if possible. They will use and abuse you.
3. If you smart in a certain class, don't make that common knowledge. People will be on you like hawks.
4. Freshman year you don't speak to strangers, never ask for help, and stay by yourself.
That's all I got.

My advice: Don't be afraid of anything. Do what you want and don't look back.

Yeah that's the way my school was set-up as well. 7th and 8th as Jr. High instead of Middle school. But yes, it's middle school.
I went to my High School today with a friend, just to see a little of what it was like. So far, I have to disagree with most of what The Cheat said (sorry!). I talked to most people there, some seniors and juniors even, and they didn't seem that bad. One of them tried to convince me that there was a swimming pool on the 5th floor. There is no 5th floor and no swimming pool. But that was just one person.
So I'm going to just talk to everyone, and don't hide from certain people. It's good to have a mix of friends anyway. :)

1. True, "bandos"( what we call them) usually stick together and get pissed if you pick on them, espicially the drummers.
2. That is the dumbest this I've ever heard. I myself can be considered a jock and we are the ones you would want to get to know because not a lot of people mess with us, so you're pretty safe with them.
3. Yah true, I love it when teachers put me behind the smart people. Espicially when you didn't stufy for a test ;)
4. Thats the year I spoke to everyone in higher grades then me. You meet new, older people who you can go for advice. I have a lot of Junior- College freinds ( sophmore for the next week) and it's great when they can drive you off campus, write you absence passes, and if you need help with anything really.
Anyways, Try to be as social as possible, join clubs, sports, go to dances, football games ect. That way you get known.

HOLY SHIT. Your only in grade 8! My highschool goes from Grade 8-12, I just wrote my provincial final exam today for Science 10. God, what a bitch. Anyways, always be on the lookout. Because you will get thrown in a garbage or stuffed in a locker. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Ok, I took my own advice this year, the exact opposite of what TC said.
I am currently dating a Junior (he's going to be a senior. 2 year difference.) I have friends in all different cliques and grades, and no enemies at all that I am aware of.
I'm glad I didn't stay in a shell, or I would have been miserable. ;)

Damn I'm just getting ownd in this thread.
Looking back I'd admit, I was not a very social guy. But as time went on I became more social.
I still did not like the jocks
I still did not mess with the band.
High School was fun and i'll miss it a lot. I really did not talk to the upper class men for I had nothing to talk to them about. I stayed with my own peers and did my own thing.
Senior year was a different story. That was a hoot. :)

if you want to drink in the dorms being an RA is the best thing. the RAs are supposed to enforce violations of underage drinking. become an RA, abuse your power, drink. you also get massive rent concessions, free food, the best rooms and priority housing.

I definately want to become one. My dad did some work on the University I want to go to and he was working in the room of the RA. The guy had beer piled everywhere. My dad asked him why he had so many beer cases full the guy said for every 5 cases he sells to the students he gets 1 free for himslef:D How fucking amazing is that. With like 3000 students buying tons of beer could you imagine!!!*drools*

I didn't realize Elemental was only an 8th grader. In that case, I take back my comments making fun of his prom picture, in which he wore pants that were many sizes too big, a poorly fitting jacket, a badly tied tie and a ridiculous hat. And apparently had no date.
I think everyone has that kind of phase in 7th or 8th grade.

no, be nice to everyone then no one will tryn get at you.
2. Avoid all jocks if possible. They will use and abuse you.
be jock then do follow #1..makes people love you if you break the mold.
3. If you smart in a certain class, don't make that common knowledge. People will be on you like hawks.
do this then apply rule 1 and 2..again breaking the mold earns respect
4. Freshman year you don't speak to strangers, never ask for help, and stay by yourself.
approach 2nd tier "cool kids" there for you meet the "top dog" with out being humiliated b/c you know one of their friends.... they are easy to spot.. they are the ones who are popular but still mad insecure and dont like to party as much as everyone else....
That's all I got.
and thus why you failed
Or become popular, date older girls, and be the really athletic kid who's also really smart but then doesn't do any homework and relies on acing tests so he fails all of his classes and has to leave TAO for 2 years b/c hes in intensive therapy.
that's all I got. :P

lol I was in intensive therapy for 18 months.
a two and a half month wilderness therapy program in Utah called Outback, where we carried all of our stuff on our backs with backpacks we made out of tree limbs and leather, made our own fire (it gets old after the 3rd time) and we would hike 10 miles-ish a day.
then I left there to go to a therapeutic boarding school and spent 6 months in a room where if I were to look anywhere other than my desk or face any other direction than forward I would go back to the wilderness program. And I could couldn't communicate with anyone in a 100 person school and had to raise my hand and ask permission to do anything (bathroom, water, tissue etc.) and then 3 days a week a 2 and a half hour group therapy session where if you didn't participate by crying your eyes out you got in trouble.
oh the stories i have of the crap they made us do. I need therapy to reverse the therapy they did to me.
