ya some guys when they start they cant stop. the guy my dad lived with for w =a while when he moved out had that problem. as long as he was working 50+ hours a week he was fine. but if he ever got time off *hoildays* he would go out for a drink. he would then drink until he passed out and do it again when he would get up. last time he drank some paint thiner. he lived but barely

Felt like I had just set fire to my mouth. >.< First time I actually got drunk was this past summer though, I'm not really a big drinker. Maybe a mix drink or two through the party and I'm good. No, not all people share the same views, which makes this world interesting. We understand that she is trying to help, but unless we are in peril there is nothing to help. To kick a bad habit maybe? Well, there are many things that I deem as a bad habit but each person is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. These are some of Si clan members beliefs, and as such should be respected even if not understood or shared. Yes, if you read everyone who does these things knows that they are bad for our health. No, it's not "rebellious immaturity", some people have valid reasons to do these things, even if you don't deem them valid. Obviously healthier living is better for us, if it wasn't it wouldn't be called "healthier" living. I could state some things to make your life healthier as well, but there's no need to. Excuse me sir, I'd double check who you're calling ignorant. As it is, some of the greatest minds of all time smoked and drank. Some even used drugs, and I'm sure they weren't ignorant. And I would like to reprimand your degradating comments towards the intelligence of Si members who do smoke, drink, et cetera. While I am fully aware of Urania's good intent, we don't see any reason to change our habits if they are done in moderation and don't negatively effect the forward progression in our lives. I appreciate Urania's intentions of helping Si members become healthier, but unless those members want to change themselves nothing can be done. You could always join Si, but from your comments I doubt you'd pass the recruitment process. Urania and I have had our quarrels in the past but never once have I said she is not welcome in Si or that I don't respect her as a player or person. Like I said, there are times when her and I don't see eye to eye, but there will always be a place for her in Si and I will continue to respect her until she does something that will deprive her of that respect.

as Apollo already said, people often share different opinions on these things and all I can do is express my own opinion and then see and apreciate the replies and opinions of others... though I must admit I often come into temptation to try changing those opinions in accordance with my own, which, I know, is a wrong thing to do, even if the intention is good.
I could say that advice is appreciated, enforcement of your own views on others is not.

But on the other hand, I cannot deny that if it was someone very close to me, I'd sure try doing sth about those, imo, bad habits... it would be their decision then, whether they are ready to change or not...

the thing is that ppl often know of and are fully aware of the threat such substances impose on their health... what can one say then? why are ppl still doing it, if they know of the consequences of their actions?
I don't think it's always rebelious immaturity...
and one thing about healthy living... it is almost impossible to live a completely healthy living nowadays. The way society functions and the way food and other things are produced make healthy living almost impossible... that is a fact I cannot avoid nor ignore, even if I'd like to.
Maybe the catch here is not to worry so much of it (though I must admit, I often do...), and just make sure or at least try every action you make is done in moderation (I again often fail to do that.).
the reason I don't smoke or drink is because I in a way simply follow what my senses tell me i.e. smoke stinks and makes me feel sick and disgusted, same goes for alchohol.
that is why I won't take those potentionally damaging substances into my body.
I am sure I could get used to both if I'd want to, but since I so utterly dislike them both, I see that as very unlikely to happen.
I won't tempt the fate though, since I know myself all too well... especially my inclination of going into extremes.
that is why I am perfectly satisfied with drinking water and tea and make sure to stay away from places where ppl smoke and drink a lot (my parents have never forbidden me going to such places or said I am not allowed to drink till I am 18, it was my own decision not to do either and that's probably the reason I still haven't done or even tried any of it).
