Another reason why FPS > Legends

Well, I tried out Legends today on a new grey account I made there. I won my first match, but that was minor. My match against [ RAGNAROK ] came second. He jumped me and I check his stats. 1300. OK, but I see he has a frost golem and two clerics. Fortunately for me, based on his formation (at least against same sided turtles), it wouldn't be impossible for the win. I noted that I had a dropless grey.

He started the match with incredible luck and he brought one of my knights down to 4 HP early on. That was OK for I retreated. I eventually killed his witch even though I missed a crucial front shot on it. He charges in his knight to damage my Witch. He kills it, but I managed to trap his knight into the corner. With two clerics as backup, it was no easy deal to defeat that knight.

As the match went on, he froze my LW and started attacking it with his LW. I brought my assassin up but he covered his frosty with his knights. I stayed in that position (next to my LW) with my assassin. He charges in with his own assassin and I block off the space with my own. He goes around to the other side of my LW. I block off that area, but I made the mistake of attacking it, thus making it block. He went around again, and he had an opening for my cleric, focused barrier ward and my 4 HP knight (I hadn't healed up to this point). I move one of my knights that trapped off the area and hit his assassin in the front. He heals. He stays there while trying to fight off my scout. He heals again after I hit his assassin from the side. He heals once more. He charges in and hits my Scout from the front which kills it. I move my enchantress up and freeze my barrier ward and my own assassin for his knight. He wasn't getting over there anytime soon and my cleric was safe. He retreats with his assassin (in front of his knight) which has 21 health. He hits his own assassin. I had 767 (or close to it) stats at the time so he assumed I didn't know what was going on. Unfortunately for him, I did know what he was up to. I had to risk the front shot and my 48 HP knight so he couldn't kill both of my knights with the assassin bomb. I score the assassin front shot and kill it. He leaves.

It was a tense match and he continually intimidated me throughout the game. For example: "fight noob"; "GO LOSER" ; "STOP HEALING AND FIGHT" (ironic because he had two clerics and I only healed once) ; a few other words and lastly, when I killed his assassin ; "fucker". I didn't say a word throughout the whole matchup. I enjoyed that match and loved dropping his stats.

He was unclanned and I wasn't surprised. He had a bad attitude. I wouldn't have mentioned his name here if he hadn't such an attitude.

I agree that fps is better if you decide to pay, but you failed to explain why it is better in your post. Try playing on army, it is packed full of players similar to the one you described.

Oh c'mon not you too, ReTodd. I think the skill levels are about the same across the servers except army and rev, maybe. But legends is not quite comparable because greys there get more powerful drops and golds at FPS get double scouts. I played a ton of grey games at FPS recently and was not impressed by the level of play or at some of the golds who jumped my grey and lost despite having all the power units rushing me. I also ran into a certain FPS vet who was kinda goofing off with an experimental form on a new grey account, but so was I, and we fought to a draw due to my idiocy near the end--I should have won and we both said so.

P.S. When I say tons, I mean it. Like 125 games or so. Not just one or two or even 10 games like certain people who play just a little bit at a different server and come back and proclaim superiority of their home server. That applies to both legends and FPS people who don't play lots on the "other side."

Well, anyway, what I mean by FPS > Legends is the demeanor of the players. I see swearing and fighting in the Legends' lobby frequently and the FPS servers a lot more calming.

Ok, so I came here from Legends. As a (dropless) grey, my first fight was against a 1300 gold who jumped me.

The first message was "ur goin to lose u might as well surender". When I made it clear that I had no intention of doing so, the next message was "press F5". The following comments are too rude to post here. Meanwhile, I flawlessed this gold who was using a ridiculously weak bomb. Towards the end, he attempted to stall to save his precious rating, offered to let me "jion his clam", and said that he would give me 5 wins from another account if I gave up. When I beat him, his response to my "gg" was again too rude to repeat here.

Just goes to show, Leg(a)nds > FPS.

The simple fact of it is FPS > Legends because FPS actually WORKS.

There are bad eggs in both bunches, but maintenance and support here FTW.

Moochers get a better deal on legends due to the excellent drops and lack of wipes (as long as you play an out of clan battle once a month).

Suckers who pay are better off on fps (see insignifiGant's quote). 2 scouts!

I prefer the players and lobby on legends because you are allowed to curse. I will hunt down the next tool who types fuk or any other bastardized curse word on fps.

We aren't suckers here. We are paying more because the game costs money to maintain. That's the reason it's up right now, and from what I here, Legends is down.

I like FPS simply because of the people I have met. I have yet to find one respectable gray on Legends, and yes I have played there plenty. It seems to me, that the people with the 1600+ ratings over there who I have beaten, even the golds who would rush the 2-frosty turtle I had, think that they are superior to you from the start. These players don't take kindly to losing, especially when their superior form is outplayed.

Not that FPS players don't get the same way, but I have met far fewer of them here than on Legends.

Without these servers, and the customer base here, Legends would not exist. Seed receives a portion of all payments here, and it is that which pays for the majority of server costs for legends. The people upgrading on legends is not at a pace that is high enough to cover the monthly bills Seed has from runnin Legends.

Before calling people here suckers, maybe you should thank them for allowing your accounts on Legends to still be there.

Ah, so that's how seed keeps everything going on legends. Here I thought he was foolish, but it turns out he is getting a small fraction of $5 times x every month for doing absolutely nothing. Not that you can tell he is making any money from playing er lagging on legends. They should change the name to "Lags, Home of Seed".

The problem with lag and such has to do with the not doing wipes.

Last year, wipes were not done on a monthly basis here. The servers would start to lag REALLY bad after a certain number of accounts were on it. After the wipe, the lag was instantly gone.

Check the servers now. There is a good amount of lag on them now that the number of accounts have hit 100k accounts each.

The wipes that started at Legends was done to try and solve some of the lag issues, but not enough accounts are wiped to keep it lag free after a length of time.

The lag is what caused me to cave in and pay the $5 monthly here.

I try to wipe once every other week. I find that this keeps me lag free. Seed should wipe more often to keep the dingleberries off of Legends.

There are some good greys at Legends. Play at least 100 grey v grey or grey v gold games at Legends before you condemn the whole server. (It seems there are more "press F5" and other lamers at FPS than Legends among the grey v grey crowd, by the way.) Also, many good greys wind up getting Gold because of the pay-once-play-forever scheme, whereas if they played on FPS they might not bother getting gold. As for cocky golds, it's not any worse there than it is at FPS.

Yeah I concur w/ Exiled, I get plenty of gg's at Legends from people of all skill levels. But anyway, I don't know why people make such a big "server pride" deal out of this.. if you don't like it somewhere, play somewhere else. :)

To be perfectly honest, I'm probably among the most neutral of TAO players when it comes down to this never-ending FPS vs. Legends thing.

First point, the original post did nothing to say that FPS > Legends. I'd agree with whoever it was that said there are WAY more "press f5", "what does asl mean", "click the red x at the top right of the game box" losers here. There are probably more people with bad attitudes over there. There are some of both on each side, but I see more attitudes on Legends and more n00b cheater/loser idiots on FPS.

Legends is and will always be my home server. If there were to be some kind of tournament organized again, I'd be fighting for and cheering for Legends. However, mostly, it's because of my history there. I know more people here than I do over there, but I know that most of the historic and veteran Legenders left. I'd dare to say that FPS has more veteran players left than Legends. This has nothing to do with skill level.

As far as skill goes, I have no idea. I'm not even going to attempt to make a case for one or the other, because in all honesty I have no clue.

When it comes to maintenance and such, fps>legends, but i certainly think legends>fps when it comes to skill level, i played for about a month on legends, to get my stat up to 1000+(I upgraded to single gold after first 2 days of playing), when my rating on legends was about 950, i made a grey on fps(BrainFreeze), and in 2 full days i got it up to 1000 stat.
