An emphatic orb of essence, the Spirit Link is both a valuable ally, and a feared one, for the assistance it provides comes at a price.

HP: 25
Armor: 0%
Blocking: 0%
Speed: 3 (Teleportation)
Power: 13(?)
Range: 1 / 6
Recovery: 0 Move / 1(?) Attack

Special: Emphatic Link. (Passive)

This special ability allows the Spirit Link to use the power of the nearest ally. For instance, if the Spirit Link is within range of a knight, the Spirit Links power becomes 22. A few rules apply.

- A units range is not duplicated. If the Spirit Link shares power with a scout, the Spirit Link's power becomes 18, but range stays at 1.

- The Spirit Link will always use Emphatic Link whenever a valid unit is within range. A valid unit is one with a power higher than 13. Emphatic Link's range is 6.

- Emphatic Link only works with friendly units.

- A Spirit Link will always use Emphatic Link with the CLOSEST valid ally within range. If there is a tie between 2 or more units, the Spirit Link chooses that of the highest power. If there is still a tie, the choice is random.

- Spirit Link does not copy Special Abilities (EG: Paralyzation, Healing, Unblockable, etc.)

When Spirit Link attacks using borrowed power, Spirit Link also adopts that units recovery time. For instance, if a Spirit Link moves and attacks using the power of a Dragon Tyrant, Spirit Link has a 2 turn recovery. (0 for movement, 2 for attack. (Attack recovery is borrowed from Dragon Tyrant, Movement recovery is not)).

When Spirit Link is attacked, Spirit Link suffers no HP loss. Instead, all damage is transferred to the unit it is linked to. (For instance, if Spirit Link is attacked by a knight, Spirit Link would normally suffer 22 damage. Instead, the Linked Knight suffers 22 damage. Note that this damage bypasses blocking and armor of the linked unit, and instead uses blocking and armor of Spirit Link. If Spirit Link's armor is 30% (Stone Golem), then the damage applied to the linked unit is also reduced by 30%. This damage also bypasses Barriers, however, if the Spirit Link is Barriered, and attacked, then no damage is applied to anyone.)

An interesting side effect is as such: If a friendly cleric heals, Linked units get healed 24 HP. (12 from the initial heal, 12 from the Emphatic link) Spirit Link heals no HP as long as it is linked with a unit.

If Spirit Link is not linked with a unit, Spirit Link suffers the damage.

This would allow two LW attacks... hmmm. Doesn't seem overpowered. Interesting idea.

I like this more than probably any of your other units, the concept is quite interesting. I think you may want to keep it from applying to the Dragon and LW to make it more balanced. Good unit though.

Nah, I think it's OK. Sure, the Spirit Link gets an attack of 28-30 at a range of 1, but you sacrifice the linked units armor and blocking to do that, making it an easy kill. That, and the linked unit has to be somewhat close to pull it off. Spirit Link is also highly vulnerable to paralyzation if you attempt this. Alot of little cons like this make it pretty balanced I think.

Yeah, it is pretty vulnerable. Point conceded, good unit.

Indeed, good unit Xerent. I think though, that its range is a bit high....

Ah, thank you! I thought my Spirit Link had faded into obscurity, like so many units on CAU do. ^_^.

I do agree the range is somewhat large, given it's a passive ability. But I also believe that adds quite a bit of spice to the unit as well. Increased range, for this unit, does not always equate to increased advantage.

Good unit Xerent

If a unit the Spirit Link is linked to is at 1 HP and the Spirit Link is attacked killing the linked unit, does the leftover damage get tranfered to the Spirit Link or does it just disappear?Second probably

It dissapears. Same as if you hit the linked unit instead of Spirit Link.
