Gorgon
‘Although Perseus slayed the legendary Medusa, she had enough time to breed an entire race much like herself. These Gorgons were almost destroyed entirely when Medusa died, as her life force was linked with theirs. Now, they seek revenge on mankind for what it has done to their mother. Even in their weakened form, they pose a formidable threat to foes.’

HP: 35
Armor: 10
Blocking: 0
Power: 16 (Unblockable)
Movement: 4
Attack: 4 (LOS applies)
Recovery: 5 (2 if move, 3 if attack)
Attack: This unit technically has only one attack, but it has a has a PASSIVE special that automatically activates. Her special ability affects the direction that she is currently facing. It affects all units THAT ARE FACING HER DIRECTION, including allied as well as enemy, in a 3 x 2 tiled rectangle in front of her. At first, nothing happens, but after your next turn, all units under effect will be turned to stone.
Stone units may not move, attack, or be controlled by its user. However, it gains 100% blocking from all sides, (Like a ward) and it gains 15 armor. If the unit is under focus, it automatically loses its focus. If a unit continues to be in stone form for more than 5 turns, it permanently turns to stone. Non-permanent stone units DO count as an endgame units, but permanently stoned units do not.
If a unit attacks the Gorgon while her gaze is held, she will automatically turn towards the direction of the attacked unit, therefore switching the range of the stoned units. This ability is NOT a focus spell, and will continue to affect units as long they are facing her and she is facing them. If the Gorgon is paralyzed, poisoned, or barriered, she will automatically lose her special ability and units will not be affected.
If a unit blocks another unit’s line of sight, than the blocked unit will not be affected. So basically, if the unit had the Scout’s range, it must be able to hit the Gorgon from where it stands, not another unit that blocks it.
Contraptions are not affected by the Gorgon’s ability. You may not have more than one Gorgon on the field at a time. Note that in addition to her special ability, she has an attack power of 16 and a range of 4, meaning that she may attack units.
If you’re still confused about this ability, here’s a diagram to hopefully illustrate if better:
X = Gorgon
A = Affected Squares
U = Unit Affected
N = Units NOT affected
A N A
N U A
U A U
X
Note: Alright, the diagram isn't working for some reason. Imagine the X directly under the first A.
This unit can be used for many situations. The obvious one is to take enemy units out of the picture so that they may not be used, while you secretly attack his Cleric or something. Enemy units in Stone form will however, NOT be able to be attacked physically, so this is pretty much just a disable for a short while.
You will probably want to barrier in or even paralyze her so that if a unit attacks her from another direction, her gaze may not go somewhere you don’t want it to. (A.K.A., into a large mass of your own units.)
She may also be used to protect one of your units from dying, as her ability gives them 100% blocking and +15 armor. Coupled with a Stone Golem, and even Unblockable attacks won’t be able to kill it.
The Gorgon has very low hitpoints, (Much as an Enchantress or Assassin) and due to her powerful ability, she will most likely be a first target for enemies. She has a VERY long recovery time, so try not to move her and just leave her there. Most units will be able to kill her in 2 hits. You may have to turn one of your own units to stone to protect her.
Stone units DO count as endgame pieces, and the Gorgon will have a very hard time hitting units as her special turns them into stone before she may attack.
If this unit is overpowered, (Which I’m pretty sure she is, despite all the restrictions that may apply,) tell me how to balance her. Don’t just say that she sucks and leave it at that. Tell me what’s wrong, and hopefully I can fix it. Don’t tell me to remove the special ability. =)
