Strange disconnection - and I lost the stats!

This was odd:

I was playing tonight and it was the other guy's turn. I waited, and waited, and waited . . . I figured he had to leave his computer or he was disconnected or something. Naturally, I assumed that I would eventually get a 'so and so has surrendered' message, but instead I was suddenly back at the server select screen! I logged back in to check my stats, and sure enough, I had gotten a loss somehow.

I wouldn't normally whine, but this gave my stats a real hit, and I know for a fact that I was never disconnected from the game at any time. This has never happened to me before; is it a bug or a glitch or what?

If you look at the other threads about DC's, you'd see that DC's are quite common, and a lot of people lose stats to them.
Nothing much can be done about it.

Sometimes you're connection to the game can be interupted by misc. programs running that tend to not be acceptable to the server. Thus this can create the image that you are still conected to the game but the server has already d/c'ed you.

Anyways losing stats isn't a big deal, stats are eaisly gained and don't really make you special unless you like seeing ur name in the top 100.
