It is still in the making but here is a little peak at what we have been working on. Might have to hit f11 to get to use everything but I think its pretty cool.

That's neat. Two things: it may get annoying having to scroll up and down if you want to see the whole screen, and the bottom part of the screen with the damage calc thingy is cut off.

Several problems with that:

2. I'm already at a full screen as it is.

Did Abyaly work on this? Just wondering cause I saw his name a couple times in the source.

I'm thinking it might work better if you put all the extra stuff on the side rather than the bottum, but I don't know.
I have nothing better to do right now, maybe I'll mess around with it a bit myself.

1. You're a bit late to complain about the calculator. It's almost a year old now.
2. There is nothing wrong with being able to look up damage values. Memorizing numbers is not the point of the game.

Abyaly's was much better done. It simply was a line of dropdown boxes in the header of the page. No need for fullscreen and everything.

Also, techinically, modding the game window like that could be considered re-engineering part of the game.

That said, I may/may not intend to use this device in the future, although I do think it would be incredibly helpful (I don't care who gets the credit for it).

Personally, I have a perfect record of all the damage calculations in my head, having written out the complete damage charts for my old clan site (which were promptly replaced with the new damage chart image on the new site, thus replacing my text-based one), but the calculator will help me GREATLY when it comes down to the weekly clan rankings (having the calculator on hand means I will be able to do the rankings while I'm on TAO, without any major difficulties).

Oh yeah, and the gains/losses calculator might help as well, I guess. :huh:

Personally, I'm more impressed with the basic calculator than the other two...

All of the calculators on the JW page are stolen. There are no credits on the page. Daemon, the ranking calculator is available on the TAO rankings web page. I dont remember where the basic calculator is from, though I don't see why a flash calculator would be used as a substitute for a hand held or the one that comes with windows ^^.

None of you should be giving him compliments for anything. All he did was find other people's ideas, stick them near each other, and put his clan's logo next to them.

Like I said, nobody's really going to care who gets credit... The fact that it's convenient for people to use is all that will really matter in the end.

People can get damage calculators elsewhere.

And the ranking calculator is on the rankings page (anyone who didn't know that deserves to be shot).

Anyone can get a calculator for $10, or a cheap one for $5. Google even has a calculator feature, to top it off.

But the convenience of having all three of these on the same window as the TAO window (inherently meaning you don't have to change windows to see this and that, or buy a calculator for yourself) is good to have, even if the work wasn't done by him.

If Naruto didn't give any credit, he should. But really, arguing that this is a useless device simply because other people made these ideas first is rather off-handed.

EDIT: No credit, indeed. I just visited their clan site and made it from the home page to their special tactics arena window with absolutely no mention of abyaly whatsoever. Explanations, please?

The whole concept of Clan Rankings was thought up by Thargor. The points system all clan rankings use is the same as Thargor's. It's like whoever invented sliced bread- everyone else copied them, but the idea was theirs to begin with, and they should always get the credit.

Anyone can copy work. Even if you make it better, you're still basically copying. And if you copy you should give the inventor credit.

Anyway, that's by the by. The point is that what they've done is taken several good ideas and had another good idea by amalgamating them. Simple as that. And well done to them.

Now, fix it so I can see the bottom of it. :p
