Pre-Mudquake Nostalgia Tournament (Reward: Lightning Ward or Stone Golem)

A lot of people here believe that TAO was funner before the mudquake existed. Even more wish that the golem ambusher was never brought into this game. This is the tourn for such people, and anyone else wanting a fun game with somewhat different unit selection than normal gold.

This tourn is pretty easy to explain: No mudquake, no wisp, no ambusher, no assassin explosion allowed.

This tourn is still open! If you haven't signed up for the Saturday section of the tourn, you can still play on Sunday!

Time: Sunday 1:00 PM EST
Place: Revelations
Reward: Extra Lighning Ward or Stone Golem on Revelations account of your choice.

Rules:

1. No wisps or golem ambushers may be contained in your form.
2. You may have an assassin or mud golem in your form, but you may not use its special move.
3. No drops allowed.
4. There are no setup restrictions.
5. This tourn will be single elimination, with byes distributed randomly when necessary until finals.
6. You must take a screenshot upon winning, you don't need to post this unless your win is disputed but you must take it. If you do not and the win is disputed, the game will count as a draw.
7. The first draw of any matchup will be replayed; the second will go to the player who went second in the second match. Make sure you screenshot who went first.
8. The tournament will continue 4 hours, until 8:00 PM EST. At that point, I'll make a decision upon whether to continue it then or postpone the rest of the matches to a later, agreed upon date. This decision will be made on the basis of what the remaining players think.
9. Anyone not following any of these rules will be immediately disqualified, even if it was an innocent mistake. The rules exist for a reason. Know them.
10. You may sign up for either the Saturday or Sunday time. The winners of each time will play each other to determine the final victor.
11. Singup on this thread. I won't close signup until 12:30 PM Sunday, so please don't signup unless you know you can be here and stay at least the 4 first hours.

Especially since these matches could take several hours each, since turtles are likely to predominate (without quake, furgons can hold rushes off easily).

Something like this needs to be run over several days. You're not going to fit it into 1 night.

Make it start on Saturday, sure, but play it over the week. Otherwise you lose half your potential signups.

I might be able to join. I've never wanted to join a tourny more (except for the whole furgy thing), but I have to work Saturday, as per the usual arrangement. However, also as per the usual arrangement, I'm the only one around on Sat., so I can get away with doing a whole heck of a lot more gaming than during the rest of the week.

FYI: Might want to just not allow Muds or Assassins period. Theres no real way to make sure they dont happen once in game, unless the screenshot is timed very, very well.

EDIT: its not possible you can boost it up an hour or so is it? Ill still be able to make it, i would just be less rushed.

Actually for those who didn't know, the assassin explosion was originally planned around april-may 2004. However due to Seed's personal affair's the update was post-poned.

As for the Furgon coming first before the mud quake. This is true, The Furgon had made it near impossible for LOS units to stop freezer's or barrier wards from using their abilties. So the mud was invented in order to stop this advantage.

Because they have their own problems. In the tournament thread, the majority of posts on this subject were in favor of the 4 hour tournament type.

There do seem to be an abnormally large number of people who can't play this time, maybe because its on a Saturday. Saturdays tend to be worse for me too, but all my tourns so far have been on Sundays and people complained last time about the Sunday date.

There is absolutely nothing I can do to make everyone happy and everything work. There will be more tourns held in the future and I will try to the best of my ability to vary times. However, I am holding this tourn at the specified time if I can get at least 24 or so people to sign up.

It's not, that's the whole point. I enjoy matches which aren't decided before either player takes a turn, such as the style described here, which is why I would like to join it.

But my schedule will not allow it.

Why don't you just make the start of the tourney sooner? Probably at 1 PM EST, like the last tourney.

Players who are on USA's/Canada's west coast have to play at a pretty early time time(10 AM), but the European players will be able to play(6 PM).

Also, I won't play. Like Exiled said, without the Mud Quake there's no easy way to get through a Furgon-happy turtler. I don't have the patience for a 2 hour game, let alone a couple of them.
