heres whatsup i was in the mall today brwsing around, and i walked into gamestop and there were 3 old guys standing around talking about GTA San andreas. now when i say old i mean Seinor Citizens! theese guys were at least 60, alreaght maybe 50+. They were talkign about hacking into GTA San andreas for that sex scene or whatever.

It was Extremely Freaky i couldnt believe it

They made Video games seem. old......

This whole "Adult rated" thing is BS. GTA: SA is not an adult game I mean cmon. There was a little bit of joke code left in there. it was entirely unseeable form teh game. The manufacturer can not be responsible if someone tries to hack their game.

well im just here to state the facts. but i was watching g4(video game channel) and on attack of the show they said it was. they also had the had the maker of the game on there talking about it.but i do agree that it should just stay mature cuz its already a high rating but it is were it should be.

Personally I think that they should rate more games AO. Up until now, I don't believe there has been ONE game rated as such. The point can be made that video games aren't influential on actual conscious action, but I beg to differ. And I think that in those cases (be it few or many) where games are actually influential, the parent should know truthfully what they're getting their child into or allowing them to get into. Young minds (and by young I mean like, 25 downward and in some cases more) are easily molded, as it's the crucial mental growth years, and it would be an absolute failure as a parent to allow their child to be influenced by such a game. The worse the rating and the better the parent, the less likely it is that a child will be continuously influenced (continually, because of course they're going to play it at a friends, etc.) by a negative source.

Now, if the parent is too apathetic to care about their child's influences, then that's a whole new matter.

I think its silly to say that video games don't influence people. Of course they do. Culture IS what causes people to act in sorts of ways, more than ANYTHING else, and video games are a major part of many subsets of Western culture. Its ridiculous to say that books, movies, music etc. influence people but video games don't, and we know that books, movies, music, etc. do influence people; there are tons of historical examples, (Uncle Tom's Cabin, Birth of a Nation), there are tons of modern examples (how many teenage subcultures are linked to a genre of music?)

The real question is how do video games influence people. Do games with graphic sex encourage graphic sex in real life? I think so, yes, if only by breaking down ideas of social restriction that might discourage it. But the truth is, most of those restrictions are already dead--we already live in a free sex culture. Does this game do any more damage than anything else does? Does it deserve to be singled out?

Oh, and of course, we're forgetting that prohibition didn't work. Making drugs and alcohol illegal hasn't stopped the spread of either; rather, the allure of the forbidden has expanded their attraction. What's next: The War on Video Games?

I agree. I like many forms of media that encourages negative/evil actions, video games included. GTA is a great game. :cool:
