guys, what has happened?

i cannot say that i am a vet, but as many of u know...... i know a little about this game ;) , what has happened to all of our elite golds? honestly, i log on and all i see is 10-15 noob golds argueing about shit that they know nothing about in the lobby, or a gold spamming to where it is impossible to get games.

i dunno, maybe im just blowing off some steam.

Anyways, it's what happens when a game gets big. The server used to be relatively small and the problems were scarce. Now, the server is packed frequently so there's a more common rate of problems.

Say there's a 1/5 chance of a gold being a moron. With 5 golds, thats 1 gold. With 40 golds, thats 8. Given all the golds we have and how many we have at a certain time online... That's a lot of morons.

You don't even play anymore but you still bitch about this whole anti-GA movement despite the massive amount of older players hating the GA since its conception. I still pay each month to play how I want, and if I don't want to play one single unit that's my choice. If people don't like it they don't play me, most have accepted that.

Nothing really new about this at all 2x. People have been leaving for long time for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, they can't afford to play anymore whether because of money, school, or work. Sometimes, they just outgrow TAO, getting bored or frustrated. This is before your time but before the GA, there was a flood of elite golds leaving because of the lack new content in TAO. Ironically, it seems that the new content (the GA) has caused a renewed flood of golds leaving. Also, the same thing that caused people to leave is happening again. The game is growing stale again. There hasn't been any new content in the game since the ass bomb, which was way back in November. As was stated way back then, part of the appeal of TAO was awaiting the newest update, especially since the newest unit tended to help counter the current formation trend. Once again, TAO is stuck in a rut, and that is why people are leaving.

hehe welll...i actually came to gl thinking that it was the worst server and that there was no such thing as a gl vet :)

so since those were my expectations i think gl isnt in as bad of shape as u guys think hehe. but, im yet to play crx(although we played on rev) wayf(seen him on once), monkus, cav(although is is mostly my prob), and im yet to see xyx or aro(although im not sure if there active since mod at all...im still kinda gl noobin it)

but actualy relevence hehe. its happening on all servers.

ive been playing on army...and everyone sucks HARD CORE. like only good games ive gotten have been from geeky and worker...neither of which are army lads. I mean i see snarr more anywhere else than there, and besides wolfboy im pretty sure they lack any goodness.

banff is comparativly seeing props too(but comparitivly becouse theyve always had the most good players :) ) but uhh yeh, ive been on alot lately where im actually the only gold, or theres noone on over 1200. but theres its real whack...becouse everyone over 1200 is like one or two guys.
(this dcould be kinda wrong since theres about 10 active golds over there that are 1400...but here all SI so i cant play)

but yeh, its just the summer me thinks. and peeps get better. ricardu and zome are two pure gl'ers that i can think of off the tp[ of my head that are getting very good very fast

If you are looking for a turtle game. I am always waiting on GL. Noda wont play because we both have to be down in the arena. But other then that I had a lot of good turtle games, though its hard to find a turtle gold game even if there are 20 golds in the lobby.

All of the new golds play the game for a week before they go gold. There aren't anymore players that play and learn the basics of the game as a grey for a while before they decide to go gold. Look at all the good golds that are around. Most of them either were accomplished greys before they went gold or were gold from when the game started. If you don't have the foundation, the basic game mechanics down(which I think are best taught using a grey account), how do you ever expect to be a good gold player?

another thing is that ever since DR made GL the default server, most of the noobs end up here. and i'll again blame the ambusher. because I just lost to someone using a ga, cleric-killing rush, who had the audacity to complain about my blocking when he took unforced front shots at my scouts and knights and made them. the frustrating thing about the ga that make me want to quit is that people who are at best average players can gain enough of an advantage to beat good players. i mean i can visually see the moves he should have made that would have given him an overwhelming victory against me instead of barely winning by a 2hp knight and 28hp GA, which was only after i decided to take the 60% chance of a knight side hit and missed. sorry for the rant, but losing to someone using such a cheap formation, who also complained repeatedly about my luck when he got his fair share of dumb luck through front shots, annoys the hell out of me.

you make a good point but that isnt what this thread is about, there are like 10 other threads ranting about the GA.... nothing will be done about, as i expected nothing so its no big deal

TAO went downhill when noobs like me got golds and high stats. :p

Banff is both the best and the worst server for the same reason... All the major clans in Banff have extremely high standards and experienced, well-managed players will flock to the server to be among the experienced in a haven of tough fighters... But it gives no leeway for new players or small-time clans, which rarely make it far there anymore.

In Great Lakes, the situation is quite the opposite... The quality of players is somewhat lower, and we do get a lot of the newer people, but new people can get better here a lot easier, and actually become very good without having to be very good to meet stringent standards in the first place...

In short, in Banff, you have all the big-name clans and members, but no opportunities for newer members/clans to become very prestigious; in Great Lakes, opportunities for all styles of members are abundant, but "veteran" players will often have to tolerate the newer members and newer forms of play, until they become more experienced and can function in varied styles of play.

I'd first like to comment to the person who was calling any gold who left GL an "egotistical gold". Just because some of us were used to a game before the ambusher, or before the wisp and had the mind capacity to understand that it was ruining the game doesn't mean you're any better than us.

I'd also like to state that another reason that the quality of players has gone down is because a lot of players realized that a year or more of playing here and it just gets repetative with no upgrades.

Another thing is that a lot of players aren't leaving for good. Most just need to take a break for a while to get the fun back in TAO when they play it.

On a side note, GL will be a bit better in a week or two. There's a certain clan making a real comeback. Be on the lookout.
