A huge congratulations to these people but this is also a huge responsibility. An even bigger thanks for all those who tried out for the team and the countless others who helped with the team selection process.

Guys, Rev Tag has always earn a reputation representing FPS against Legend Server. Although our last challenge had not been fulfiled cuz of lack of comunication and coordination from Legend Server, I feel it is important for FPS to uphold our Rev Team Readiness on hand.

As u can notice as above, some original members have left us for a better life, so we need new blood.

I wish Realist or even Sergy himself can stand up and organise this "special" tourney for FPS.

Sign up guys, if u r up to it, REV TEAM is da best of da best of all clans in FPS.

Anyways, Legends netjak is disgustingly strong. Wayf fighting for FPS is I'm sure a pleasant surprise... maybe I should try out for the team if Exile is. I'm really not that great though...

I think something like Theburnings rev grand league would work well for something like this. It's pretty simple with the points and it has a fairly good accuracy of finding the top players. You could have people play three matches against every1 turt/rush/grey and the people at the end with the most points are the ones who get to represent. It;s justa a suggestion but i think it'd work well.

Now guys, i hv got an idea.

For Rev Team is designed for the Grey/Rush/Tur thing, n the fact that normally rusher don tur n turtler don rush; i suggest we hold a all grey set tourney for all trial members.

Which is of course, if u wish to be a part of Rev Team, u should possess a minimum skilz of grey.

The last 12 winners of the 1 round of New Rev Team Selection (grey tourney) will be then divided into 2 groups (Rushers and Turtlers). A 2nd round will be conducted in their speciality (Rush/Tur).

The best 3 in these 3 categories will then be made the New Rev Team.

During the process of selection/tourney, an individual outstanding ppl will be named the New Rev Team Captain.

I think it would be better off as a double elimination or something.... alternating each round between rushing and turtling (and grey if you want).

That way you can't get out on a bad first round draw (or a bad first round setup type)

Alright folks, I have an idea. Tell me what you think, I'm just going to try to throw lots of ideas out there though.

Also, before I begin, Wolf, I'd really rather help with the running of the tournament than with trying out for the team. I've got a good standing in Legends and I'd really like to be a server to server representative of some type.

However, right now it's the Revelation team that needs to be decided. I'll assume right now that there are 24 players in the tournament and that we have plenty of time to decide our team (since... we do :p ). If necessary, I will adjust the numbers.

This pool-into-bracket style of tournament is one I've gleaned from many, MANY years of playing in basketball tournaments all across the midwest. Of course, no setup will ever be completely flawless, but this one sure gets the job done. I will break it up into steps and give a very brief (if possible) exposition on each step. From now until further notice, "the tournament" or any reference to it means the tournament to choose the FPS team.

Step 1: Seeding
Step 1 will take process before the tournament even begins. Myself (if I am allowed to participate in running the tournament) will seed every single player from 1-4, two of each rating. For now, since there are 24 players, there will be 6 pools, 4 in each. Ideally, there would be two pools for each category (grey, turt, freestyle), and since I'm sure the balance isn't perfect, numbers will be adjusted as time goes by.

Step 2: Pool Play
Once the seedings and pools themselves are decided, pool play will begin. Each player in each pool will play every other person in that pool. Winner will be decided by record. In case of a tie, the player who had most units remaining, if still a tie, the player who killed most units, if still a tie, the incredible Dove will flip a coin. From the end of this step into the next step players will be named by "Name (pool-seed)". IE: "Wolfman (B1)" based on what pool they played in and what place they got in the pool.

Step 3: Bracket Play
The pools will be set up so that A-B are grey, C-D are turtle, and E-F are freestyle. The brackets will be much more understandable if someone can make them into a picture (I'm sure I could if I tried hard enough), but I will do the best to explain it. This is obviously a simple bracket.

This is set up such that the players that have already proven themselves in pool play should be able to have the easiest game possible... however, and of course, there is always a chance for upset. But that will be dealt with. Simply put, winners will advance, losers will move to the consolation bracket. Let's just play out a potential second round here. Now, there will be two different brackets (trust me, when you see a picture it will be VERY clear).

See the pattern? Ok, I'll get to work on a picture format incase you don't ;) . But after the winners of both of these brackets have been decided, the winner of the consolation bracket will play the person who lost in the championship round. If they lose, then the two that played in the championship will be on the team. The other will be considered for a final spot on the team at a later time.

This will produce 2 great players in each category. However, there will be 9 players remaining. A captain will be decided by playing a round robin in no-drop grey forms between the winners of the three brackets. The final member of the team will be chosen by a round robin in no-drop grey forms between the 3rd place player in each bracket. The two that do not make the team will be the subs.

SUMMARY:
While it may look confusing, I can promise two things: that it will work, and that it will make much more sense when seen pictorially, specifically the bracket play. Numbers can very easily be rearranged in this style, so make a tryout signup deadline and ask entrees to start choosing between grey, turtle, and freestyle.

EDIT: If all the participants would like to, for the duration of the selection tournament I will create and maintain a common clan so that no stats are exchanged between participants. If there were only a few games, or if it was a normal tourney I wouldn't suggest this, but with so many games and comeradery a necessity, I think it'd be a good idea.

Okay it is apparently popular to bash Legenders, but that's ridiculous.

CRX: you've got to be joking about 1400-1500 being like 1200-1300 at FPS. At both places you have bottom feeders like x-useme jumping grays to get to 1400, and even if you don't actively do it, from my experience a flock of grays will jump you anyway if you go fishing long enough. Well, it's EASIER to do that at FPS where grays are underpowered--no mud, frost, BR, or furgon drops, unlike Legends. And grays hardly ever get wiped at Legends so they can stockpile those drops, too. So at the very least, a 1400 at Legends is about the same as a 1400 at FPS.

1500s at both places are about the same, based on my experiences. Haven't played enough 1600+ players at FPS to say for sure, but I think at some point it's harder to get high ratings at FPS than at Legends so maybe a 1800 at FPS is like a 1900 at Legends.

That said, Legends is no pushover and Netjak Legends alone has some great vets like the Omega brothers, Aza, lodovico, quliang (who allegedly got to 1400 using the default gray setup), etc. and that's not even including the good non-netjaks, or the top grays like karlson and wowin. They aren't inhuman and sometimes they'll have a bad day and lose--yes, even to grays sometimes (which are stronger than FPS grays)--but people like allstar and others who played just a couple of games with 1600+ Legenders might want to play more people on Legends before generalizing. :)

P.S. It took me just over one day to break into the top 100 on one of the FPS servers. I had to adjust to the use of dual scouts, but after a few early losses to 1500-1600 level FPSers, I've been undefeated ever since. I'm currently 1709 on Legends, just for the record.. got to 1730 but took a tumble. :(

Grey will be my forte here; It's my particually strong aspect of things. One thing that worries me is, are rush games going to turn into 'GA-First Turn' ?

Turtle in Gold tis probably my weakest point (And unfortunantly I go away today until the 21st - i'll have limited 56k access but i'll try and keep up to date on things here :) ) so I won't have loads of time to practise >_<

Note; if you're doing it by rating, you can't count me that high on it. My only backing is I came 1st in my league for Rev. League when it was running for the first time. I use one of actgfins gold accounts (Thankies <3 ^_^ ) so I only about 200 odd stats are mine and not through consistant play.

Umm, ok..referring to swift's statement, maybe this is just all a thing about stats. I know many players who could care less about stats in Revelation compared to any other server, as well as me. And no, I don't play greys a hundreth of how much I play golds on Great Lakes (just the greys that think they are tough).

Anyway, considering the three events; I have never lost on my grey when taking my game seriously on Great Lakes. I think I might do well against some of the best, then again maybe not... But still those three events are just the thing I think I'd do well in, so I am up for the challenge IF you need someone. :)

Thank you for the honor Wolf! For now, until the signups are closed and the seeding begins, I think that we need to decide on a representative to Legends.

It needs to be someone not involved in the Revelation team and someone impartial towards FPS. If anyone would like the position, it'd be great to know, otherwise Wolf will come to someone's house and hold their mother hostage until they do it.

The gold having the advantage over greys is exactly the reason why you should NOT be jumping them. If your playing ability is anything like your intelligence, I'm sure you aren't too good at TAO, yet the sheer advantage a gold has (aside from playing ability) makes the games terribly unfair. Golds jumping grey is nothing more than stat robbing. If you need this advantage just to win games bobo, then I would advise quitting TAO. You just suck.

Someone to offer the challenge of a tournament to Legends, let them know the rules and regulations, and give them some dates.

Anybody could do that, but the most important part is answering their questions and helping their organization kind of coincide with ours.

The Legends Rep would be the guy who let us know when they were ready, made sure both sides understood the rules of the actual tourney, etc., etc.

But for now, basically someone to go over to their forums and say that FPS challenges them to a tourney and let them know categories and unit restrictions (also ask them whether they'd rather have 1 Scout in turtle or in freestyle).

I'm sure you understand though... I probably made it sound more complex than it really is.

I've played many greys as a gold and they just can't win no matter how good they possibly are. The formation advantage is just way to overpowering in my case. The only way I see a very good grey beating a very good gold is in a same side turt.

The people were not picked on skill alone, but also with their demeanor and their contributions and positions in the community. Not only that, but the decision making was a long time coming, and was based off of many battles, all between people actually elected as possible candidates.

There are some people that may have some great in game skill, but I would never, EVER pick them to represent FPS, whoever the people are that are selected need to be good, outstanding members of the community, and not just some guy sitting in his basement who does nothing with his freetime but play TAO.

After all these people will be representing us all and we don't want someone making us look bad. However after the tourny starts it should be the players that win who are in. Warcow, I totally agree. Wolfman, myself, and the community as a whole will have the chance to speak up about each and every member once the team is chosen. If that person does not make the grade, then someone else will be selected by the community out of some of the competition.

Legends will play with skill and some with common decency. Some though, I promise will be jerks to the extreme. FPS will play with both skill and honor. If our skill isn't as great as Legends, then our honor will surpass them for sure.

If the best players here ALLOW themselves to get thrashed by TN... then these servers really don't deserve to beat legends at all.

This is getting a little out of hand. A few points:

First off, a rev-team selection tourney won't solve anything. It'll just show who was the best or the luckiest on that particular day. As for the actual rev vs. legends tourney...Dove...Wow. Amazing setup.

2nd - I won't be playing. Several people have made it known that they won't play on a team with me, or if I'm picked, they'll do their best to make sure I never get to make an appearance, etc. I won't name the petty people (some of you may be able to guess), but regardless of that, I simply don't have the time. So let's sidestep that problem right there.

Since a team-selection tourney may not be the best way to go, of course, it's difficult to figure out some sort of criteria. Wolfy is the organizer, and it's his dance, and he will choose who he wants, based on whatever.

In my opinion, the top 20 or so players on FPS can all beat each other on different days. Purely as an example, match allstar against crx. One day, crx may beat allstar 3 out of 3, but over the course of their playing time, it's likely that they will gravitate to about 50/50. Such is true with most of the truly top players.

For the sake of argument, I'm just accepting this as true. Therefore, the team shouldn't be based on one lucky tourney. If I were picking the team (and I am aware that I'm not), I'd base selection on overall consistency of skill, reliability as a teamate and a player, and character as an FPS representative. There are a few skilled players here who have absolutely no tact or character, and it would be a shame to see such imbeciles represent us. (Again, I'm sure some of you can figure out who).

Having said that and based on that criteria, I'd put the following on my "personal" team. I'm aware that the final team may have more or fewer players, but whatever. These are people who are consistently skilled, very reliable, and people I would be proud to have represent me. In no particular order (and trying to omit those who've already said they can't do it):

The Sniper (the one from SI, not the other idiot)

Ah Wolfy, it's a good idea, but I fear you are missing a huge part of why DR picked the people that he did.

The people were not picked on skill alone, but also with their demeanor and their contributions and positions in the community.

Not true. The team was picked to win. As it should be if something like this ever comes into play again (hopefully the games will actually be played this time if it does!)

Rather than hold a tourn to select a team, I think we should do it in the same way DR did it--get a bunch of people together who know a lot about the great players on their servers, and have them come to some sort of agreement over our best players in each of the categories. Then, we send invites to all the selected players, see who's willing to enter the team, go from there. One tourn cannot show who is the best.

The best reason NOt to do it the way DR did, is because that involved one person as the "head honcho" for the team... now there isn't anyone running the team, so everyone will argue about how the initial selection was biased based on who chose it (after all, who really should be in charge of the rev team?)

Although i could get 2 wins on a good day in the grey vs grey event (plus one defeat against karlson, hehe) , there is little hope for me in representing FPS in the rush or turtle fights.

Wolf, if you don't mind, can we scratch that order? I'm gonna just update this thread with the info if it's ok with you. If it gets closed I'll just have to start another thread.

For now, PM's are going out to the 25+ people that I have not filtered out that have signed up. I'm asking you to select one of the following (and please pick the one you feel best at... we wouldn't want an out of place turtler playing Legend's best Freestyler):

Grey (no drops)
Freestyle (standard gold units, 1/2 Scout)
Turtle (standard gold units, 1/2 Scout)

The Scouts will be decided momentarily. I believe that Freestyle will use dual Scouts and Turtle will be limited to one.

I should have the pools made by the 12th. If not, we won't be any worse off for the day or two lost. The quicker I get replies to my PM's, the quicker this show can get on the road.

Also, I'll be asking if there's a general consent for me to create a common clan on Revelation for everyone to join so that playing so many games won't drastically affect your stats. Not everyone must join, but for the ones that want to it will be available.

Jon, The screenshot dilema is much more complex then you know, and I don't even know half of it, but I can safely say over 90% of what was said, is about 20% of what the actual dilema was about.

There is no real deadline. Somebody pointed out that setting a deadline for a whole lot of games was a bad idea and I decided to agree. When I've got enough info to decipher the brackets, I'll call it off.

If they don't respond, play everyone else. It's all based on records, but if someone wins 1 and plays no others, they'll be eliminated.

Also, the four top players in each POOL will play in brackets. If it doesn't take 6 games to decide the top 4, I'll call it off.

Right now I'm shooting for anytime before the end of August. I want brackets to be made up by the 1st of September. Hopefully this will be possible. I know that in some cases I'll be able to tell the bracket players (winners of pools) before all games are played.
