Search is online on banff occassionally, but doesn't play much either
Medemia plays sometimes under secret greys I think. The last I heared was that he hated us to the boot and wanted to join K0tr to bring SI and Netjak down.
Roody leads on Army.
Nomar still plays on Banff and Rev.
So most of them are still around, just not on banff anymore.

When you say we're obsessed with the rankings. You're wrong. Of course we like to see our name on top, but we don't change our policy if we come second. We've always been consistent.

When you talk about the separation of the Netjak vets, you're right. They are separated, but nothing stops them to come and "visit" eachother on each server.

Netjak is about competition. So while we do like to see ourselves in the ratings and do talk about it (because its fun), we're still the same people.

Normally I'd agree, but I think this is actually a remake that makes sense. If there was ever a concept that needed a facelift, it's War of the Worlds. Not to mention the fact that it's Spielberg. I know his record isn't perfect ( don't get me started on how much I hated the last 30 minutes of A.I. ) but it's pretty damn good, and I'm interested to see what he does with a real sci-fi/horror. No Reeses Pieces- eating aliens or glow in the dark spaceships that sing.

The problem is he is a good actor, but he plays the same damn character in every movie. A movie is supposed to be about the characters, not about the actor playing them. THAT is Cruises biggest problem. He makes the roles fit him, instead of fitting himself to the roles.

He was different in Last Samurai, as he was different in Collateral, as he was different in Minority Report.

Cruise is no where near being the best at what he does. I agree with OMK when he says that it's easy for Cruise to play his parts becuase they are writen around him. All he has to do is be himself. Anyone can do that. Tom Hanks, Jude Law, and Russell Crow.. those are GOOD actors and the best at what they do. Cruise can only hope to be as good as them one day. Yes.. Cruise may have more experience in the film industry, but they have more talent. He gets by simply on looks alone.

I've listed three recent movies where he steps out of himself and still acts quite well.

12... you have some good points. I am not arguing that most of his movies are entertaining but look at some of the words you and Wack are using. You're saying that he still acts quite well, and Minority Report was just decent. Tom Cruise is getting old and it's time he took an extended break from Hollywood.

Ok.. Collateral was good. Vanilla Sky was good. The Last Samurai was not so good. He is not hot anymore. He was hot back in the day. Top Gun (the best movie ever), and Risky Business... now those were good Tom Cruise movies. Magnolia sucked and so did Eyes Wide Shut. At best he is a mediocre actor.


Tom Cruise has done a lot better work than Top Gun. Remember movies like Rain Man, The Color of Money, Born on the Fourth of July, Interview with a Vampire and Far and Away? I also think Minority Report ( which, like War of the Worlds, was also directed by Spielberg ) was very good. Collateral was amazing.
Eyes Wide Shut sucked, but it was a Stanley Kubrick film and the guy was a legend. No actor is going to turn down an oppurtunity to work with the guy who directed 2001 and A Clockwork Orange. Little did he know that Kubrick had turned into a senile old pervert. What a stupid movie.
However, Tom Cruise is still on top. He's still one the biggest draws in Hollywood. It's not because he's the world's best actor, it's because he's good at what he does, he has a very magnetic acting style and people like him. Hell, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Robert Deniro..these guys have been playing the exact same role for over 30 years, and they all have multiple Oscars.
Tom Cruise is one of the biggest stars on the planet. I don't think that's going to change anytime soon, as long as he doesn't do any more appearances on Oprah.

True, some of the movies he was in were great but not because of him. rather, the movie story line, and other actors carried him. Far and away was a very good movie, but Tom Cruise was himself, but with an accent. Mission Impossible was a disappointment, at least to any fan of the original TV series. MI2 was a Tom Cruise EGO stroking mess. Rain man was awesome more because of the excellent work by Dustin Hoffman (great actor). Color of Money was a good movie again because of Paul Newman. Cruise was a slight variation of himself in all of them. Sorry, but he may be a big draw, but he is not that great an actor. Hell even Arnold managed to change gears an express himself as different characters. Look at Twins and Kindergarten Cop or even Junior, definately not the classic tough guy Arnold. I think that is what drove Tom and Nicole Kidman apart, he couldn't handle the fact that she was a real actor. LOL :bigsmile:
