Alright folks, here it is... the POOLS! Here are the instructions.

I will be on Revelation as much as possible in the next few days. If you're on my list, you can join the new clan.

POOL PLAY: Pretty simple. You will play everyone in your pool one time using the pool's acceptable units (Grey will use standard grey units, Turtle will use standard gold units minus 2nd Scout, Freestyle is free standard units) and report the game in the form of a screenshot to me. In all honesty, I would like both a winning AND losing screenshot, just for the record. Please include the full screen (I want times included) if possible.

From there, the brackets will be decided. Good luck, and if there are questions, feel free to ask!

hey bro, im missing from the freestyle pool.
I think Dove is only allowing each player access to only 2 pools. I put my name down for freestyle as well, but said it was just about my weakest discipline (as I lose the most games that way, although that's usually down to bad luck/formation). If you make it through the pools I'm sure you'll get your chance to show off your freestyling skills... we need a captain after all :)

Exiled, since there were uneven numbers in the Freestyle Pools I've decided to let you play.

However, noting that as of now, there will be NO more changes, including: New Players, Pool/Division changes, etc.

So as to keep the pools balanced, anyone that secedes from the tournament or from a particular division will (as seen with Exile) give all other participants in the division a win unless they have already played.

Accidently cut the time out before I remembered not to. It was around 11:00 my time, 6:00 his time.

Y'know, I've decided this whole tournament is going to be pointless.

When you get 2 good players playing a grey game, the result will be decided almost SOLELY by blocking. Example: I just played swift again (as the first game was so decided by luck and initial formation) and I beat him comfortably... but this time I had the luck. In the first game, I played better than he did. In the second game, he played better than I did.

It's ridiculous. When it comes to the real thing, it won't be "Is Revelation or Legends better", it'll be "Is Revelation or Legends luckier".

I could say the same for freestyle as well. A game can be over after 1 turn, or even before the first turn is taken.

And as for turtle, well, if your scout gets hit from the front enough in a 1-scout contest you don't stand a chance.

I'm not withdrawing my application from the team, because I would like to play Legends. But I don't see the point in playing in the pools. You can no longer judge a player's skill in any more except by playing them in person.

Well, that's quite a rant I just made. Maybe I ought to just stop playing for today. :dry:

Edit: Snarr had the right idea first time. Just pick the 7 most respected and skillful members, don't make a tournament to decide who gets in.

Of course, keep this tournament going, because some people enjoy this sort of thing. But don't use the results as the only factor for picking the team.

hmmm i dont know about that guys, i mean in turtle and freestyle it deffinetly is all about luck.

but in grey ive only had mabey 3 games that ive lost entirely by luck(and one of them i prolly would have lost anywase). becouse ur mostly using knights, even if someone gets a front shot on the knight unless it kills it it doesnt really matter.

yeh, i def had luck against hatchet, but i was constantly planning for bad luck. It's how u play. I remember rantzu playing grey or free and hed constantly go for the lucky shots...its amazing how if u hit a knight from the front 5 times...its usual that it will hit once, and its more amazing how some peeps *caugh* stiff *caugh* will complain that u had the game winning luck becouse of the front shot.

and also, even in turtle i lose to glad like 9 out of 10 times...and i know for a fact that its not luk.

grey is so much better than gold...and thats my story...i hope u guys liked it.

Any match between two players who know what they're doing at grey will come down to a couple of pivotal blocks.

Every game so far that has been posted looks like it has been. Including Swift's last win.

Honestly, the team we need to field isn't necessarily the best, but the luckiest...

It's strange, I don't normally mind blocking, it's a part of the game... but when it has this much influence on a tournament for something like this, it really does annoy me...

well i have to say, ive never lost becouse of luck (in grey...free and turtle i get it more) until swift, but i need to reiterate, that ive played everyone else in my bracket at some point grey on grey, and i did win without luck. or even with bad luck. and certain greys have beaten me without good luck.

its unfortunate when someone looses purely becouse of luck...(especially when its me...stupid witch assasin and scout not knowing how to get hit) but i still think grey can be won by someone with more skill.

*edit* for the most part i do agree though. althogh personnally when i look at the pool's i do determine about 5 or 6 peeps between the 2 pools that stand out.

The problem is, every unit COUNTS so much in a grey game. If you go 1 unit down, you're in trouble. And this can happen quite easily if you don't get any knight side blocks when you're going for the enemy enchantress, or if you sacrifice your witch to have a chance of killing the scout which then blocks a side shot.

The fact that some units are CRITICAL to a grey (notably cleric, scout and enchantress) makes it even worse. One or two unlikely blocks or hits, and a game you were winning can suddenly become a desperate situation.

When you have 2 good players, and everyone who has signed up IS a good player, losing that one unit will lose you the game. So you can't judge who is better from it.

That said, now I'm going to go on Rev and beat everyone in my grey pool that I see, lucky or not. :cool:

In the grey game, every turn matters. Even more so than a rush match. If your opponent blocks you, that's another turn wasted; an example was when I played Swiftness earlier today, and he got a witch side block that would have killed it. He barriered the witch, and it was in such a position that I HAD to kill it or be crippled, so I sacrificed my own witch to break BW focus and then kill the witch. I lost my witch and Swift had 2 extra turns to do what he wanted, whch was to advance a knight and his scout, resulting in my dead enchantress 2 turns later.

I think I've made my feelings on grey perfectly clear by now. :)

Things are moving very slowly. I think the inactive players should get booted. If they truely cared about being on the team they would make an effort to play some of their games. There should be somekind of drop date for example if you haven't played any games by a certain date your out.

Yes, I apologise for my internet connection. I would have taken a rematch if you'd wanted (even though I was so blatently winning, it was mainly thanks to a DSM block at a fortunate time), but if you're happy to give me the win it's OK.

I didn't get a chance to say, but gg. The only thing I'd say you did wrong was heal on your first turn; you should have shot the DSM with the injured scout and retreated it. That way, you wouldn't have lost the wisp, which would have caused me major problems, as I only had 2 effective ranged units. Like I said: you had advantages at the start, but didn't use them...

Sorry for the post-match analysis, but I always hope that both players can learn something from each other after a game.

For all involved: losing your first game will not harm you. It will be double elimination, and the way it will work is that one person will not lose any games and will automatically be on the team. There will be 3 left that have lost 1 game, and they will duke it out to see who is the second spot on the team.

In the end, there will be a player with no losses, a player with one loss, and the final player to get both losses will be a substitute.

Sorry, but that's what you should have done to begin with. The original team was picked among those that were known to be the best according to the community. Among those mentioned the most, there was a mini tourney.

I would have had this tourney focused on one day, or maybe two days.

As it is, I'm always on Army, and when I'm not I'm looking back into Rev. If people really want to play me, they can ask my clansmen to contact me in Army, Rev, or even via email.

Well, theres new talent in the neighborhood. You may be picking this person, when this other person may be more dignified and talented then the one selected. I say that if a game is not played in the Time frame given, the host of the tournament should decide who stays and goes. And then if it goes on from there, another person gets kicked out. There may be one person waiting for the other to get a game, whereas the other never shows up. So in order for this tournament to advance in anyway, people need to be kicked out. So, make your decision, so we can speed things up. We've only got about a month guys.

If any of the peeps that have made it this far were to play alot(im tlakin hours a day liek we all have at one point or another) we be very good.

I know when i was playing alot I easily went from 750 to 1620 on gl without losing a game. and shot up 100 points in a couple days on banff.

same story, when i didnt play alot i lost like 100 points hehe.

skill just comes from practice, we almost all know what to do, just many of the old lads are rusty.

Dove, you really need to do as Prophet said; get the old Rev team together (what's left of it) and get them to pick the rest of the team. So wolfy, snarr, Realist and theburning (does she still play?) should decide who the remaining 3 members and the two subs should be.

Remember, you need players who are adept at two of the three styles. All the team will need to enter two styles. And you can't have an entire team full of freestylers and turtlers, or turtlers and grey, it needs to be balanced.

I'd just like to express how utterly dissapointed I am. I feel like I've wasted so much of my time on this. Playing matches, arranging games via pms. It's truely saddening to see people on a gameing site not able to complete a game in what like 2 weeks now? 1 GAME!!! I mean seriously, if they can't do it here what makes anyone think the games against the legends team will get played. It's a lot harder to coordinate games from people on another website then it is on the same website. I was really looking foward to this tournament but people have just made it boring and no fun. I don't know ho many times I've checked this thread hoping to see a completed game or at least some form of activity to only get let down. I hope the next time we have something like this only people that are commited to playing will sign up. Otherwise your just being a complete asshole. By being inactive you make it impossible for people who have played to move along in the tournament. It's understandable if your busy and you don't have time to complete your games. If this happens at least come on here and post so something can be worked out or you can be dropped to allow others the chance to play. I'd like to thank those who have done this already. I'd also like to thank the people who made an effort here. To all the others I realize my words are harsh but I just feel so irrotated over this. Something that dove put a lot of work into and something that had the potential to be a lot of fun has just been ruined. Dove thanks for organizing this, if people played it would have been a lot of fun.

Umm, noda. First off, I use that setup because it works for me. There are several setups I could use if I wanted. For one, A turtle. I've been practcing that for a bit now, so i'm getting not too bad at it. I can do ok at grey, but i'm best at gold. I could rush If i really wanted to, i've been working on a one sided rush that I may start using soon.

Those are the people I want to represent me. Realist is the only person who ever outplayed me a in a grey game. I am 0:2 with him. We played four or five months ago.

Megahizu is an unknown netjak banff grey. He is here from 2003. Very skilled. I am 1:0 with him.

Monkus, Warcow. Those are the people who pwned rushers with a turtle. I have played only Monkus and am 1:0 with him after he didnt see a wisp kill (claimed he was rusty :))

Allstar is an excellent grey player and a very good turtler (I havnt free´d with him). I am 1:0 with him in greys and we drew in our turt game.

Wolfman is a very good grey and from what I have heard outstanding in other styles too. I am 2:0 with him in grey games. We played about four months ago.

Those are the people I would like to represent me. I am sure there are some other players whom I dont know, but since I have never played them, I cant judge them.

As of this point, since the tournament is basically shot, it's coming down to selection, at which point I don't have the most experience with players around FPS.

Hence, I'm turning the tourney and selection over to Twelve, who will be coordinating with myself and Wolfman. I will urge him to highly consider those who have been faithful and have played their tournament games, but since it's obvious that only a few are going through with this, and since he's both highly respected and willing enough to do the job, he's going to handle things from this point forward.

Thank you to those who supported my efforts, and best of luck still. I WILL be coordinating the actual Rev vs. Legends tournament, and the plan for it is already made, so timing is the only issue, but it will be worked out between Prophet and I when our team is selected.
