Alrighty hopefully we will be able to start the tourny up sometime within the next 2 months (favourably around october).

Now I believe if it wasn't already said is, where would the tourny take place, and what are the units allowed?

NOTE: If this question has already been answered then please ignore.

Basically because Legends and FPS have different unit settings (as in drops, upgrades etc), the question is, how will each game be played?

The scout issue would probably be one, since FPS is so dependent on 2 scouts, and Legends is used to 1, will the games be limited in preportions or will it just be a test of adapting? Or, will some games be 1 scout, and others be 2, etc...hopefully these are some of the things we can work out later.

Now as for whose Server to play on, it would probably be advisable for the Revelation Server to host the gold players, giving tournament gold accounts (Or just some for those who don't have gold accounts on Rev). That way because moderation is a lil better then on legends (Yes thats an understatement but then again a particular Mod hasn't been the greatest in judging games over here) would obviously make more sense. However i'm sure all these things will be addressed as the date comes to a reality.

Finally, the last issue that should be addressed is s/s's, obviously this will be an issue no matter how you look at it, and in such cases will need supervision on things. As well as players only using 1 account to battle with, and not getting others to play on their name if they are unavaiable.

I chose to post this in the GD forum for one simple reason, everyone should be able to express there idea's and with a more "wider variety" then the tao tourny room has to offer in regards to suggestions and idea's, things can be put into the works more efficiently. (At least thats how I see it, who knows :S).

Anyways good luck with the selections here and hopefully we can finally get this tourny off the ground within the next couple of months.

Not that I've been in this conversation from the beginning or anything, but I am quite interested in this tourny.
I thought I saw somewhere that it was going to be a basic grey setup.
Man, these are the times I wish the game would have been adapted to allow for observers in battle. How I would love to be a fly on the wall inside the arena while these fights are going on.

Nah. Two jakkers are running the tourney(s).

Moose, two Scouts will be available in Freestyle and only one will be available in Turtle.

As for the tourney itself, Prophet and I have both agreed to the rules.

Two players in each division, plus a Captain.

Each player from FPS will play each player from Legends twice. This will give us a total of 4 games for each division. If the division is split 2-2 between servers, then the Captains will play one final game for the win in the division.

The server which wins two or three divisions will be declared the winner, though if an administrator was interested I'm sure we could get prizes for the players that won any division (Best Turtling Server, etc.) as well as for the overall.

DivineRight wasn't playing in it, he was helping organize it.

I think all sides should just play with default grey units. Since Legends players are accustomed to 1 Scout and the FPS players are used to 2, its hard to come to a compromise. Taking out the Scout or leaving it in will take one side's players out of their comfort zone, and they won't be able to take advantage of their usual strategies(Unless the player plays on both sites).

Look for the Legenders to be winning most of the Turtle games, and it coming out about even in Freestyle(Luck>Dual Scouts).

We'll see, I believe that a good compromise would be that if we do break down teams and team captains, the captains have the handi-caps for scout usage, or something.

Or 2 scouts would be allowed in turtling but not freesetyle.

Or 2 scouts would be allowed in turtling but not freesetyle.

Then most of the FPS players would win the Turtle games.

For a tournament of this magnitude, we need both sides to be even. Adding or taking an important unit will have too large of an impact. Only using the default grey units is the fairest way of doing this, since grey account on both sites start off with the same units.

You mean deafult grey form, the one that we start or you mean any form but with the units that you have when you make some new account?

Any form you want. In this game, being good at creating formations is an element of skill.

Not true. I can play with 1 scout just as good as I can with both.

Default grey units sound more logical. This way it comes down to core ingenuity and skill. Despite some peoples abilities, legends players could still be put at a disadvantage from the start. :butcher:

And? Just because one player is equally good with certain units doesn't mean another player will be.

I guess its really depending on who's playing. If you have a player who's used to both ways of playing, then yes, I'd say it'd be fair for him. If you have someone who doesn't have the luxury of having access to a gold on Legends, then he's at a disadvantage. I'm not saying the people who are playing in this can't play a Turtle game without dual scouts/only one Scout. I'm saying its giving the side who's played most of their TAO career with one scout/two scouts an advantage.

Though if both players and organizers agree with the rules, I guess there's really no arguement.
