I'm bored, so here it is . . . I don't like the name though, came up with it in 5 seconds.
Iron Golem:
Hit Points: 60
Power: N/A
Movement Range: 2
Armor: 0
Blocking: 0
Recovery Time: 5
Attack Pattern: Same as Stone Golem
Special Abilities: When it attacks, it casts a focus spell on the units within its Attack Pattern. Those units will be protected from any ranged attacks, meaning they can only be hit by an attack coming from a unit in an adjacent square (like the Knight attack). Attacks that would be affected would be the Pyro attack, DMW, Beast Rider's attack (on the farther square), Scout, Dragon, LW, Busher. (Did I miss anything?) It would not, however, protect from long range focus attacks.
Yeah, so there it is in a nutshell. Tell me what you think.

it would mainly be used in turtles, and when i do a turtle, i struggle to find room for all the pieces i want, so to me having 2 defensive golems would be overcrowded, and i like the stoner better. but otherwise seems like a sound unit.

I would use this instead of the stoner, as the only way to do any damage would be to stand next to the unit... however, I think it's too overpowered, as it would be ridiculously impossible to kill clerics or other monsters like that.
Also, you forgot the witch :D

so then the four units i would use this guy on would be the cleric, the stoner, assassin, and probably the 2 scouts, because it would be difficult to get a knight or other hand to hand unit close enough to hit the longer movement ranged units.

The thing about this is that you couldn't use a scout or mage to break focus, it would have to be a knight, assassin, beast rider, mud golem, poison wisp, frost golem, or chanty. This would be way overpowered if you used it on clerics, frost golems, chanties, >5 hp assassins and the like. Turtlers would reign supreme, and I don't think that tipping the scales back to the opposite would be any good.
It would also be very crazy in combonation with the stone golem. You would have to magically get by all of those stoned units to break focus.

No no no no no. This is a monumentally bad idea. Just think, even without the stoney this is overpowered, not to mention it would prolong games beyond anone's desire. You can't hit any unit in the area with a ranged atack, so you cast the ability on the Iron Golem (who is back against the wall and flanked by strong defensive units) and on the other 4 in front of it. You sit back and force the opponent to use only its melee units, which you are abe to kill with ease because they are heavily outnumbered byt your plethora of turtled units, and there is nothing the opponent can do.
This would be the most annoying situation ever in the game. It wuld basically make half the units in the game relatively obselete. If not that, then it would make games take at least an hour or more apiece since no one would want to go out on a limb and attack the opponent.
The only way I can see to counter this unit is to let it do its thing and set up the shield, then send in your wisp. then attack with every ranged unit imagineable. Of course you would lose about 2-3 units in the process of this kamikazze attack, but that would fit with the theme of extreme annoyance.
Nice try, but no cigar.

What about if the pyro, DMW, DSM, Scout, Dragon, or LW is on a square right next to the unit it's attacking?

Sorry max, but bad idea. Basically thats two stonies, that would be one long game and will be abused somehow.
Better luck next time ;)
