Tcbb's Invincible anti-turtle grey formation competition.

Inspired by Twelve's success. I decided to run my own tourney. Ever since I returned 3 weeks ago, I have been using mostly a formation I call the hammer fomation. Most people consider it to be a n00b formation and lose to it dumbfound. For mysterious unknown reasons, it also beats all my other formations when I was testing it.

Now, here is a picture of the Hammer (http://www.geocities.com/Tcbb84/Hammer.JPG) formation I just talked about. Of course, like all other formations, it has its weekness. I designed it as an anti-turtle formation; and you can probably guess that a bomb or spread formation will destroy it.

So, this is the challenge: beat my formation with a grey turtle formation you would normally use. To qualify as a turtle, no unit should pass the central line(or it could be considered as a spread). Here is Bottle's formation (http://img47.exs.cx/img47/3320/greyform5wj.jpg) as an example. My whole point of this tournment is to show the grey world a formation that has an advantage against grey turtle and the turtle formation isn't the only formation for grey. So if you use a formation specially designed to counter my formation, the game would be pointless.

I don't have much reward to give except a fun and challenging game for all the paticipants, and a little bragging right for the winner. Since this formation isn't luck proofed, you have to win more than lose in at least 2 games to qualify as the champion. If you are interested, find me in Great Lake. I am not so sure about "positive". But this has definitely evolved from the formation you played 1 year ago.

I think this is the form swifty used last night that I beat him with the units in my sig. I did turtle also. If I can beat him with 9 I might be able to beat you with 10 seeing as it is your form and you have experience at it.

Swift was trying my form. He just beat me(though I d/c). He played very well, and exploit fully the formation's weekness.

But since we agreed before the game that this doesn't count as a tournment game, this tournment hasn't finished :).

The difference between your tournament and 12's is that his would only be beaten by the perfect formation that got a bit of luck. Yours can easily be beaten by skill.

Well, perhaps easily is the wrong word. Let me put it another way... 12's formation would be impossible to beat unless you knew it beforehand and got amazingly lucky. That's virtually unbeatable. Your formation could be beaten by a turtle without any prior knowledge, and doesn't need the amount of luck that a grey against 12 would.

Out of interest, what do you do if the turtle gets first turn and rushes your back line before you can attack with your hammerhead (knights)? A couple of mages may kill one knight, but if a few knights and the scout attack you're in trouble.

My knight and scout will advance and kill his cleric and enchantress without anyone blocking the way. And since my knights are in the center, they will reach enemys cleric faster and without suffering much loss. It takes a lot of turns to advance 2 knights to my cleric, and 1 is very sure to die en rounte.

I disagree. You show Bottle's turtle for demonstration purposes there. If you advance your knights, you're asking for them to be killed by the witch, knight and assassin, or at the least held off while they go around them. Meanwhile, your own flank is undefended, and Bottle would simply advance a knight first turn, and the scout second turn shooting a mage, and then another knight advances if the scout does not come under fire. There is nothing to slow them down apart from damage, and you can't inflict consistent big damage without any knights in the back row; once the witch and a pyro have died (possibly in exchange for a knight) you have almost no defending your cleric.

It would become a rush game, and the turtle could hold off the attack for longer than the hammer could. The problem with a hammer is that its handle is much much liable to break or split than the head.

Oh well, seem like my formation/my strategy has some serious problems I don't fully understand. Here goes my ill-fated challenge. I feel embarassed, but I still have my fun. Thanx ricardu for the game; he played very well. I panic a bit when I was losing. Swift and ricardu showed me how to beat it. I will try to improve it or abadon it completely.

And Elite, this is what I would do. I would retreat my injured pyro and move one knight down. Also, I would not risk my knight unless there is an opening.

Perhaps I should elaborate.

Since my last match with Ricardu (Ric, it wasn't too long after you came back), I considered us about at par with each other, but if he can wallop TCBB like that (Tcbb I consider to be out of my league), I want to see how good he'd do against me now. :) I wasn't saying I was better than him (after our first game, I very much lost that right).

I was using The Internet Bovine (GL), which was in Gold Jumpers at the time.

True, I said you were lucky when it counted, which was true. If you hadn't gotten that Scout front hit (and the two other attacks to kill it), I would have saved him.

But since I lost him so early, you still had most of your units with which to wall me off, and since I had also lost my Pyromancers, I had no actual method with which to counter the Enchantress, since all my units (save for the faraway Witch) were one-range melee units. If I had my Scout until later in the game, even if he did die, you would have had less units with which to wall me off, and thus the frontal did indeed screw me over. Losing my Scout at that stage in the game made your Enchantress virtually omnipotent.

Nevertheless, I did say that game went better for you, and a win was a win.
