I also wondered if anyone still uses Mud Golems? I do in my strat, and he tears it up enough before he dies to hinder them enough to wipe them out. Anyone else?

Even with +30 armor, starting with no armor and no chance of blocking, hes just too weak to do any real damage.

I have started using him with a stonie and then send him flying across the board at the cleric. He has to this date either killed the cleric on his own or roughed him up enough to the point where my scout can get a trick shot in on him. Works for me...except when playing a person smart enough to use the barrier ward well. But I havn't really started playing a lot of golds yet.
speaking of barrier wards, has anyone besides me seen a newb put it up front and then attack your unit thinking it will damage it?

Because of the lack of blocking and armor, would muds be a defensive unit, or an offensive one?

I would think the only use for a mud golem would be as an offensive unit running around quickly finishing off those fleeing units that almost dead but not quite. But the few times I used it it's incredibly long recovery time for a melee unit got it killed every time. What think you people?

I'd say defensively offensive.
First part of the game, hang back, wait for units that get close and attack them.
Later when units are hurt, chase them down, hiding can't save them.
Obviously I haven't used one.
But I played one, and that's how it seemed to work.
