View Full Version : Glam's über Tournament of Awesomeness

I've got a lot of free time this weekend, as all of my roommates are out of town. I'll be hosting a tournament on Rev on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3:00 PM EST.
The rules are quite simple. You may only use the default setup. From there on, it's all you. If you don't show up on time, you will be disqualified.
The prize will be... (drumroll)... a free grey account! And maybe an avatar of your choice on your gold. That second is dependant upon participation levels and a certain admin that I will talk to once participation levels are solid.
Sign-up is via PM, to me. Hopefully we can get this thing off the ground in three days :)
Edit: More rules regarding game settlements will be posted later, when the tourny actually starts. If it's absolutely necessary, I may be making up rules on the fly :) I'll try to keep it absolutely as fair as possible.
Edit Edit: A few new things -
Sign-ups will be cut off three hours before the über Tourny starts. At that point you can still sign up, but your name will be put on a reserve waiting list, to replace drop-outs and no-shows.
Also, just to clarify, default grey setup means default grey formation. As in the newbie setup. A few people said they were confused on that point.

The majority of other tournaments have been dogged by people signing up 2 days in advance and then no-showing, causing the first round to take hours with big organisation problems for the tournament organiser. Why not start signups only a couple of hours before the tournament starts? You'll lose a few signups possibly, but only the ones who weren't planning on showing up anyway.
Just a suggestion.

Because if I did that, people would either forget to sign up, and then show up wanting to play anyways, or people wouldn't know about it until a couple hours before the tournament, and I'd not get enough people.

And, she already talked about anyone not showing up on time just being booted from the tourney.

I have definitely some problems with the title of this thread!
I mean like uhh.. Can't we decide for ourself if it is awesome or not? Maybe we think it's just good and not awesome or maybe we think it's super duper awesome instead of just uber awesome eh? EH?!
Don't train to brainwash us because you just got a little more power, you powertripping maniac!!!

People who want to play would be on that day anyway, right? So they shouldn't forget to sign up for it if you had told everyone signups opened say 2 hours before it began.
or people wouldn't know about it until a couple hours before the tournament, and I'd not get enough people.
Simply make this post, but say signups start 2 hours before the tournament starts, and people will still know about it.
Anyway, it was just a suggestion. I wish you the best of luck.

Just as we don't understand the point of people signing up on a thread in which she clearly stated to PM her. Yeah you could say you did both, well ok, but then ubber noob cliche decides he should sign up too. And if a stop isn't applied to this wildfire that those who thought they were above Glam's request started, then this thread will be nothing but spam of people wanting to sign up. Most of which will not even be around come tourny time.
It wasn't personal, it was me trying to help her out. Glam made a very simple request, if people are going to enter into this tourny that she is putting her effort in, then they should honor her one request. :rtfm:

Lol, I didn't mean I didn't understand Your neg, that made perfect sence to me. I didnt understand exile's who negged me for the post before the one you responded to.

How about posting a list of people that will be in so that the people that actually PMed you wanting to sign up know if we are in.

I am sure that will come closer to tourny time. Are you under the impression that if you did what she wanted (ex PM for entry) that she won't give you a spot in the tourny?

It's not uncommon. I had signed up in the 4 unit tournament that Archer had setup clearly stating that i was in and lo and behold was left out.

I've been both saving all the PM's and making a list as they come in. I'll post the list when it gets closer to the tourny so no one who PMed me gets left out.
LT, I'll put you on the list because I'm nice. But I really would prefer that people PM me to let me know they want in. I almost didn't see that you were signing up, LT. It's easy to miss people in a thread, because I skim. PM's are hard to miss.

Anyways... Why is a default tournament on Rev? That just makes it so I can't play. :(
Sounds really neat, though. I wish I could see some of the default masters' moves. Somebody said that Rood was at least twice as good as me with the default.
roody poo
09-10-2005, 12:54 PM
Thanks for the props. Really the only greys that I fell consistently to were those that are known as "elite" players and it was with them using their own forms with bw's, lw's, corner formations, etc. Even then I put up a hell of a fight and it usually ended close.
With that said, I haven't played you but I am sure with the effort I've heard you putting in on the default, that you've got to be very good.

Sign-ups are via P.M. I've never stated here that I am playing tomorrow. Besides with too much hype I would end up going out like a punk in the first round. *looks around slowly and begins whistling* :*ph34r:

There are a few clarifications in the first post, in case some people never look at it.
