Now that there is a Tournament Forum, and more mods to host tournaments, Im going to repost this.
Tournaments are one of the great things about TAO. They can be very fun and difficult at times. Often times there is disagreement between players and things can get out of hand. Being the newest golds in TAO, it is YOUR responsibility to keep tournaments running smoothly. How do you do this:
**************
Tournament Basic Rules
____________________
Category 1: Before the Tournament Starts
1: Show up on time. On time = ten minutes early. If you show up even five minutes late, you may not be included. Substitutions into the tournement are one of the biggest headaches for the host, as they are often unfair to opponents and involve picking between people.
2: If you did not sign up for the tournament in the specific thread, be it that you have no forum account or just did nto see it, you cannot expect to enter the tournament. The ONLY time you will enter a tournament on this short notice, is if a player asks the host if you can take his place, and that is "okayed" by the opponent.
3: Be Patient The host will start to make the brackets before hand, however, they will be edited as time goes on and people come. If you continuously ask when the brackets will be up, they will take longer to be up. The process is long. The more patient you are, the more fun for the rest of us, and yourself.
4: DO NOT SPAM. Spamming the threads is annoying and rude as it is, and with a crowd like that in a tourney, its even more obnoxious. If you have not reached the maturity level to be in this proximity with other people, do not dign up for the tourney. Spamming in a tournament could result in a boot, temp ban, and in worst case, IP ban.
I. Asking the same question repeatedly.- People have seen you. A lack of answer means "no" or "stop asking."
II. Talking nonstop. Tournaments often have over 40 people participating in them. The revelations server can hold more then 40 people, and there is no delay on your chat. If everyone is tallking nonstop, no listening will ever get done. Clan chats are your friends in tournaments.
III. Spamming in general. This is the worst offense and often time causes banning and booting. Even "joke spamming" in a tournament will boot you. It isnt funny, and the tolerance level is 0% spamming.
5: If you did sign up for the tournament, be sure you can come. Signing up then not showing up is as low as it gets and is a large annoyance and delayer of the tournament. If you find out you can't make it, post that you cant at least one hour before the tournament.

Category 2: During the Tournament
1: DO NOT SPAM AGAIN See previous post about spamming.
2: Follow Instruction of the Host. If the hosts tells you to shut up, shut up. If the hosts says to post results in thread, do that. Do NOT disregard the instructions.
3: Look at forums. You need to pay attention to whats happening at the forums. If there is a no-show, report it at the forums. If there is cheating and you have a screenshot of it, post it at the forums. Post the results of each round in the given thread, and wait for the next threads bracket to come out in the patient manner as when waiting for round one. Once again, clan chat is your friend. Share your matches, talk in clan. dont fill up the lobby with jibberish.
4: Most Important. Follow the rules of the tournament. follow the rules of the round. Follow the rules of the host. Cheating by unaccepted form or playing yourself (this can be IP check if there is suspition) WILL result in a disqualification and could lead to more severe punishment. Do no play as a different person on their account, do not cheat at all. This is a very important rule, and expectation that all other TAO members expect of you.

Category 3: After he Tournament
1: Be a good sport. Wether you win or lose, the rules of sportsmanship apply. Even if you or your opponet was beaten, a nice "gg" or "well done" is always nice. This is more of an expectation then rule, but is widley smiled upon.
2: Don't Lie. If you come out of your game after a loss, do not report a win. More often then not, the winner will take a screenshot, and if you are reported lying, you will not be able to participate in a tournament again. Its is unclassy and will cause expultion of priviledges.
3: Leave the server if you are out or disqualified. The server is crowded enough with people with questions and comments. Unless you are chatting with your clan and not making any harm, it is best to leave. Making a mod have to remove you is never best. You may stay, if you are interested in the outcome, and are being respectful to winners, losers, the host and all people.
Be sure to thank the host before you go. They put hours of thier time to allow your enjoyment.

Have Fun! These tournaments, though lengthy and in need o fstructure, are made for the fun of the community of TAO. If you arent having fun, find a way to. They are competitive and grueling at times, but dont forget its all in good fun, aiming toward a particular goal. Keep you're eye on the prize and never give in! The vets of TAO will always be here to help if needed (and asked nicely). Share strategy! Share your big battle! Get into the competitive nature! Have a ball with tournaments and stay in the grounds of good judgement, and you, and everyone else will have just as much a blast as you do.
**************
Tournaments really are great, and with more people joining the fast growing community, its about time you give one a try. Who know's, there could be another Dragon for a prize around the corner someday...
