6 Unit Tournament (Great Prize).

Hello ladys and gentlemen, boys and girls. today i have giving some thought for me to start a real cool tournament, and here is my idea.
(Post if you wanna be in this tournament here in this thread)

The tournament is simple, but before i start saying anything, here are the rules.

-Dragon Tyrant will count as 2 unit.

-Lightning Ward, Barrier Ward or dragon tyrant can't be leaders *you'll understand what this means below*.

-You can use drops

-No DragonSpeaker Mage

-6 units only

The Tournament is like this. you'll have 5 units that will be your protectors and 1 unit that will be your leader. when the leader is killed you have to surrender, so in this tournament the 5 units that you have must protect your leader at all cost. and if you kill your opponents leader first you win. when the leader in both sides are killed at the sametime its will be a draw and you will have to rematch, allso keep in mind that if your leader is killed you have to auto surrender. so in this tournament you have to kill either all 6 units or the leader, so allways have long ranged units. the leader can be anybody except for the units above. make sure you allso pick strong leaders like stone golem, and knights (knights are better to be leaders because of thier high hp and block). only 1 unit can be leader, when you win a battle post the s/s on this thread.

This will currently take place in revelation, meaning *Golds Only*

This Tournament will start this saturday 9/17/05 at 3:00 PM Eastern.

This rule of you picking a number is no more, since people will get mad at who their ganna face and end up not participating. so i have allready currently choosen which people you each 32 are ganna face. i will post a new thread for round one, two, semi-final, and final round in TAO Tournaments saying the brackets.

New rule: as soon as you start the battle, you must tell your opponent which unit is your leader and its location, and your opponent must do the samething.

-The Rule That i have to tell you which units to play with is off, since it will realy take the fun out of the tournament.

New Rule: If Your leader becomes frozen by the frost golem or the enchantress, this does not mean you have to surrender. you can break the focus and continue on, but at the end if your all out of units and you only have your leader left and he gets frozen then you loose the game of course.

New Rule:when you choose a leader, you can't put in another unit of its kind in your set up for the tournament. so now there
wont be comfusion..

New Rule: If your opponent does not show up, you auto advance to the second round. but i have to give your opponent 10 minutes to arrive, if he does not arrive in 10 minutes you will advance to the second round.

If the tournament has enough participation and enthusiasm by the general public, the mods have agreed to award the first place winner a special avatar or a gold unit. the tournament is going great with players, i have a good feeling that the mods will make a prize a special avatar or a gold unit.

Sign Ups Are Over!, its being past friday 12:00 am eastern. allso having to much people is ganna end up in comfusion for me, but don't worry i can handle 32 people.

Allso take a screenie of you and your opponent saying which unit is leader and its location.

When 3:00 pm comes i will each give you 10 minutes right away to come up with a set up with your 5 units, and your leader. this will allso give me time to post the brackets in the TAO Tournaments board, so make sure that from today on you start thinking of it. you have to be 100% sure your set up will kick butt for you to play 100% against your opponent.

I have a couple suggestions. Make the dragon two units. Making it one only restricts the variation of forms seeing as ever single person will have a dragon. And my other suggestion is that you draw names for the matchups instead of picking just to be tottaly fair. If you don't want to use my suggestions by all means don't, its your tourny but I think they will only improve your tourny.

The only problem I see is this; I would be surprised if anyone chooses a unit other than knight for their leader, as it is the most durable.

Now, this is going to be a bomb-fest for two reasons; One,the objective is to kill just ONE unit, so that it's like cleric-kill rush plus, and second, bombers are not inhibited by the fact that they only use 6 units, because they know exactly where the leader will be.

The most common form, I beleive, will be a knight on the back row, then a dragon in front of it, with a dsm and possibly another pyro up front, or another unit. With dragon as two, they can even stick a scout, wisp, or mud in to make things even harder for a defender.

Maybe I'm wrong though, but when so much rides on the survival of one unit, you HAVE to go offensive, and miniature bomb/rushes are going to be likely.

Prove me wrong though, I have been in the past.

I think thats kind of a tough decission, because every tourny has the dragon as 2 units, and the great thing about this tourny, is that its diffrent.

A couple of things, the first, so thers no confusion the username i am entering in as is Fallin_Demon. In im Great Lakes and in Rev. lol. ppl were jumping on me in the lobby about the whole name thing. Now i have a couple of questions. What time Zone are you talking about when you say 3:00? Are we gonna draw names, i think this would be fair since u dont know every1 and stats dont mean much in Rev. i only really play in GL w/ 1350 stats and have less then 800 on Rev.? o and 1 more and this is gonna be a stupid question i know....How do yall make thoes signiture/banner things? i just started this form thing so i could be in this turny?

You request to be added to the tournament list. Provide your game name (bloodymoon) and your server (Great Lakes). Then you will be added to Spawn Dragon's list.

After that, practice for the tourney. :) On the 17th, meet up on Revs at the designated time and play your opponents (which will most likely be posted on the first post in this thread, or on a new thread).

I won't be participating in this one though, as I will be trying to bring back the Revelation Survival Tourney or the Tag Team Tournaments... Best of luck to the participants. :bigsmile:

You have to say the location of the knight, so that stops the problem of lying in game, but lying about the screenshot, just beat all of their units, and there really isn't a problem.

Glamdring will have an answere very soon about the prize, intill then practice, practice, practice. and i will put up a rule that your leader cannot have a double meaning, if you have a knight you can't have more knights. so make sure you choose a good leader like the stone golem, or go crazy with the ambusher as leader, or by the heck of it choose a wisp. lol.

If I might offer you a suggestion, you should start the tourney off right now.

You currently have 32 participants. That means you would be able to get in five even single-elimination rounds with no "bye" rounds, and come out with a clear winner. :)

Sample:there are 25 people in the tournament and i will ask you to pick a number from 1 to 25, thats how it will work. and if you pick the number that has allready being taken, i will tell you to choose another.

I suggest using anyone after 32 as a reserve. There WILL be people who don't show up. I guarantee it.

Also, I suggest making a thread at some point where you must declare who your leader is before hand, so screenshots will be conclusive. That way you won't get a screenshot and one guy saying "I killed his leader, the stone golem, and I won" and the other guy saying "no, my leader was the dragon that's still alive" and having no way to prove who's telling the truth.

the thing with the leader is, if you say what yours is before hand, the other people will change their sets to kill that one leader. :-\

for example if it was a knight, they'd use magic users, because he's very deffencive.
If it was a Stone golem, they'd use Long ranged units, because it has 0 deffence, and can barely move.

At the biggining of the match, just tell your opponent who your leader is and your opponent does the samething, and take a s/s of it and save it. then if your opponent trys to say, that was not my leader you can bust them.

I think before each game make it publically known what both of your leaders are. BOTH people. Then once your leader is killed please surreneder dont just go and kill the all the other persons units to take their stats thats cheap.
