It's been said that we should get a spell checker, why not one like this :)

Because those who truly spell bad are also the ones too lazy to use it.

Not to mention that would require work to install.

moose, what you need a swift kick in the pant's. spell checks arent needed. what IS needed is for poster's to know how to use proper grammar and punctuation. is i misspell a word, so what? you at least might be able to guess as to what it is SUPPOSED to say by using context clues.

in summary, moose, what you need is a swift kick in the pants. :D

How ironic that you mentioned grammar and punctuation, and yet capitalized not a single word......

He capitalized the word, "is."

i'm talking about those who decide to make scentence after scentence without a single period like i mean some people just cant use a comma to save their life then they try to mix up different thoughts and ideas and have no structure to them but i mean oh well se la vive i like to eat pancakes

But, use of capitalization goes hand in hand with punctuation. One signifies the beginning of a sentence, one signifies the end of the sentence.

What there should be is an auto spell checker. Like, when you hit submit, it automatically checks it before you send it and lets you go though the whole stuff and yadda yadda yadda. (You know what I mean).
There should also be a option in the user settings for people who don't want don't have to use it.

And the increased server load would suck. vBulletin is already a resource hog. Doing automatic spellchecks would jump it up a heck of a lot.

Only for Golds then?
....but most of the people who need the checker are noobish greys..... sigh

Anyone using FF could use this extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=485

It allows you to right click, and gives the suggested spelling of the word you click. Doesn't do the entire things at once, but allows you to check certain words.

Here is an even better one.
http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/

After you install, go http://dictionaries.mozdev.org/installation.html and install the language library you want.

We don't need a spell checker.
But one would be nice though. It would make TAO an educational experience for the young ones. :)

Having no spell checker makes it easier to distinguish--

Oh, never mind.

Only for some things...

But seriously, when I saw this thread, I thought you were going to follow up with, "A foot up their ass".

Ah, yes, spelling. Easier on the eyes and the mind...Oh well. I suppose that it will be up to the people to decide whether to spell correctly or not.
