For almost all of us, our rep pointage hit is mainly determined by how much rep we have. Except for the few people who have many thousands of posts. But the big hitters now-a-days hit for just under 20 points. 20 points is one fifth of adding or subtracting a whole rep power point. Since most rep given around here is positive a lot of rep numbers are going up. As the rep power goes up so does the ability to give power. This will increase until people are hitting for many many rep points. Unless there is a limit on vB as to a maximum of rep, pretty soon one hit from the top person can give you 5 red boxes, or give you 5 green ones. It's like an out of control population of rabbits. Except this time there are no limited food supplies or living space. You know the famous graphs (http://www.erin.utoronto.ca/~w3env100y/env/ENV100/hum/anth_gifs/pop.gif) of human population? Now imagine that those thousands of years are now months. And there is nothing stopping that line going on forever upwards.

If you look in the long term, again assuming there is no limit to what vB will allow, the numbers will get so large that it will start to eat up server space. Eventually the servers will have no more room for new accounts or new posts. All hell will break lose and the servers will implode causing Warcow to become Warbovine and Jeffery to become just plain Jeff! Search will lose a 6 and FryLock will become just a Lock! Twelve will become Thirteen brining netjak down due to the bad luck and meletus will become just mel. The ensuing chaos of people thinking he's Mel Gibson will cause all of Si to crumble. Nads will become Na and negetivity will flow throughout, which causes noda to become no. Realist will become a list! Snarr will become a Snail and theburning will become thefreezing and Shinok will be confused with a girl! Glamdring will lose her Glam and people might try to ring her. Hugh Junit will no longer have his unit! And OMK will just be an old man. Northwind will no longer have a north nor a wind. And Moose will lose the se and become Warcow who is now Warbovine! The confusion!
