Surrendering and gaining stats?

Ok, so I was playing someone with 748 stats. I had 1188 stats. (748 jumed me). Well he was stalling so I went to do some foruming. I totally forgot I was playing him, then all the sudden I hear *surrendering noise goes here* sound. I was all "crap, I ust lost a crap load of stats" I check my stats and they are 1190.

I am pretty sure this is a bug. But, ummm, I'm glad.

Without screenshots and such of this all, there is nothing to even look at.

For example, he could have surrendered, giving you the win. (2 points is about right for the point spread)

Are you sure it wasn't him surrendering for stalling too long? I usually don't play with sound, but if I remember right the surrender sound goes off for either player.

Well I wasn't thinking for the s/s. But I know it said "You Surrender"

he might have left before the surrender registered?

I dunno if the timer still goes down when the opponent leaves and its ur turn. So maybe he left, u got the points, then the timer for your turn went down and did the whole surrender thing.

Even if your opponent DID leave, unless the sign saying "stallin' noob has left the arena" comes up, you should lose rating when you run out of time.

Plus the winning and losing sounds are quite distinguishable. If you're sure that you heard the surrender sound, then maybe you didn't check the ratings properly beforehand.

If not, and it really is a bug, why are you complaining? :wink2:

I'd have to double check, but the game will automatically deduct points from the person who leaves or surrenders first, so if your oppenent left the arena but the timer ran out on your turn, technically u won no matter what and the game takes that into account.

It kind of goes hand in hand with d/c's as well because the server isn't set up to distinguish between leaving and connection failure. Unless the server is either reset or rebooted at the time.

So it's not really a bug, it's just most people tend to leave as well when ur oppenent "gives up" so to speak ;).
