Hey Mithrandir, I have a question concerning the roster thingy. Do leaders setup rosters for each of the three categories in the first round, or just one general rosters for the whole? If it is the later one, it could be possible that a turt expert might end up playing a rush expert. :bigsmile:

Basically, all the leaders have to rank their players in each area. I'm the only one that needs to know what all the rosters are. The leaders choose who will play what kind of games in each round. The purpose of the rosters is to find out who will be playing who. For instance, if you're ranked third among turtlers and you are going to play a turt game in the first round, you would play the opposing third ranked turtler (assuming he was also playing a turtle game).

I like to fight all types (picky) but if I pick a type do I have to settle down and stay like that? IDK clan..what should I do as far as sets.

As for "picky" players, you knew what you would have to do when you signed up: freestyle (no limits), turtle (monkus rules) or grey (no drops). If you didn't think you could do these, why sign up? :wink2:

As for the frontline dragon thing, I think Mithrandir's way is the only fair way to do it. Even if the dragon couldn't be used first turn, you're still going to have EITHER an exposed furgon or unstoned scouts in "my" turtle formation that you can go for.

I think it would be good to have each team have a clan in rev they could use if they wanted to use it. It could be inconvenient afterwards but if you can get a mod to make you the clan, go for it. Not a bad idea.

I can see why the mods are having hard time responding to your request for the award. This tournament is based on team cooperation, not individual efforts. Some players will be eliminated from the winning team. They contribute, but they don't get the reward for their strenous effort. How is that fair to them? There is no doubt that this tournament has many, perhaps the most, players involved. However, it will be tough for the mods to administer the PRIZE fairly.

Zack is a master turtler, he taught me to play gold.
Red Fire is a little rusty but still incredibly skilled, and used to train BGA so he is very good gray.

Ele and Zoma are both really good, but I question trading 2 vets for 2 comparatively new players.

The trade deadline will be Friday evening. Please send me your rosters as soon as possible after the deadline. Then I'll announce what teams are playing what teams, information which you can use to figure out which of your players will be playing each kind of game in the first round. Once you all send me those lists, I'll post the semi-finals

The rosters can't be finalized until the trading is done. And the rosters will never be public, unless the leaders want theirs to be public, which would be their option though I wouldn't advise it.

Same here. I haven't planned a team to beat every opponent just to have my team perfectly arranged to beat LT, and ending up playing allstar. :)

On a side note, our provisional roster is currently being agreed on on our forums. I think it'll be submitted sometime this weekend.

Your roster, which won't be changed no matter who you're playing, will be sent in before you find out who you're playing. After you send in your roster, I'll announce who is playing who and you can use that information to decide who will play in what categories for the opening round.

Mithrandir, actually knowing before who we are up against is quite important. Take me for example. If I were to be put in the gray bracket, I want to know the potential threats against me. That way, I can get away from them as far as possible, and let others take care of it.

There's no telling what your opponent's roster will be, even if you knew who your opponent was so it doesn't make as big a difference. The leaders' job is to make the strongest roster they can. If they leave themselves particularly vulnerable to one team, that's their mistake. But remember, they are only making their rosters blind. They can choose who will play each round as the rounds happen. If for instance, you have a particularly difficult time beating Noda as a grey, then if your team played against his, your leader could put you in a different bracket so you wouldn't have that problem. He wouldn't be able to change where your rank in the roster but he can change which roster you'll be a part of in that round.

Well having the team leaders pick who plays what style is obvious, as for ranking them, what if Mith just matches them up by pick #. That way the leaders don't have to rank them. Your pick number indicates how strong a player you are. Take AllStars turtler with the earliest pick number and match him up against exiled's turtler with the earliest pick #.

Some specialists are likely to play a particular kind of game almost every time but everyone should have a ranking anyway, just in case a leader needs someone to fill a particular spot.

Yeah. To do it a simple way, put who you think is the best in each category. If you're the best turtler in your group, rank yourself as number one and you will play the opposing team's number one, if you make yourself turtle in the first round.

no the leaders should chose the order because then the is some strategy in picking the order so you win more of your games and match up your "trash" vrs their best and have everyone else play someone worse or something... that way you have all but one of your guys move on and only one of theirs. the picking the order is what will make this fun.

So, the way I understand it, you rank your players according to skill in each category, then the top players play each other, then the second best, etc... If the leaders misrank the players, the system will be flawed, in a way, and there will be no choices as to who plays who, which was what I was looking forward to. Why not have alternate rounds, where say one leader picks a turtler to play this round and makes his choice known to the other team. The second team can then match up a player against them, and they fight the match. Then the second leader selects a plyer, the first leader matches it, and this continues in alternating rounds. That way there is some strategy as to selecting players to face up against others. Like if I told DL I am really good against a certain strategy, and our opponent selects a turtler who plays that way, I would convince DL to let me play the game. I think it would be more fun that way.

But at this point, I can't change any rules that were already decided on because the leaders had to make decisions already that were based on the previous system. If all the leaders agreed on one of these ideas though, I'd consider changing things.

i like where they select 6 and hope that their 6 are matched according to the other 6 (ex: 1vrs3 2v4 3v1 4v2 5v6 6v5) and they do it like that. i also like kb's idea but dont make the tourney so structured that it is boring.
