Alright Rev Teammates, this is your captain speaking .... um hm....

Rev Team......Attention!

i delicate this thread for our strategy discussion against the Legends Team.

First of all, I would like to divide the team into 3 squads:

Frylock (Free Squad Leader)
Warcow (Tur Squad Leader)
Bot (Grey Squad Leader)

I would like the squad leaders to train n find me the best 5 ppls for your category...... i believe the squad leaders i selected know which team mates r best suited for their category.

I need the squads ready ASAP.

Squad Leaders are to report to this thread with their squad list (preferably list in skilz order).

Go Rev Team Go!

Wolfy, are you sure I should be turtle leader over you or bottle? I mean, I'll gladly do it, but just so you're sure . . .

I'm currently leader of my (one-person) clan, so I'm going to need someone to hold on to it while I'm in Team Revelations. Anyone who will do this (and give it back once it's over), please PM me.

On a side note, I've decided to join netjak on Banff for the duration of the tournament. There just seems to be more people that I know on Banff from NJ than SI. Sorry to all SIs, but if you were online more I'd still be there. I haven't seen Darque, draquist, mel, nads, resc, blud, Snipes, FA or anyone I knew from last time I was here. :(

Edit: Warcow, if we're doing 1-scout, I probably won't even be doing turtle. And wolfy is the captain, so he won't be leader of any disciplines; he oversees the whole team.

I think the selections are good ones. As for who should play grey, my initial thoughts are:

Myself, as i'm leading the grey section and I'm pretty damn good at it.
Wolfy, as he's captain and has to do all 3 disciplines.
Realist, who's an excellent grey player from what I remember.
Allstar, a decent grey who managed to beat me a while back.
Twelve, since he plain sucks at turtle, so he has to do freestyle and grey. :)

That is, of course, unless Warcow wants to do grey, as I've never had the pleasure of playing him. :)

lol,

I agree with all, apart from Swift being a reserve.

I mean, no doubt, swift has skills, probably exceeding my own, but presuming he is playing grey, shouldn't Mithrandir made the grey squad?

I do want to play grey Bottle, I know I've never competed in any of the tournies, but I am quite certain I can handle myself as well as any of the guys on your list. You'll have to play me to decide :)

Also, sticking me in freestyle just isn't the most solid of ideas . . .

Alright guys, after some examination of our roster . . .

We have a problem.

Basically, we have a two dimensional squad, that meaning, we have players that can turtle and grey, and players that can free and grey.

Since not everyone can play grey, we have to have someone crossover, and that presents a huge problem.

My recommendations are this.

According to Bottle, 12 should be playing grey, I haven't seen 12 turtle, so I wont disagree for now.

One Grey spot down, One Freestyle spot.

Myself, as turtle captain, will be turtling, and for those of you who have played my freestyle, know that I am not reliable, I should not be freestyling.

Two Grey spots down, One Freestyle, One Turtle.

Wolfy plays all three since he's team captain.

Three Grey, Two freestyle, Two turtle.

This leaves us with a problem, we now have four guys left.

Allstar, Frylock, Bottle, Realist.

Each of these are prospective grey players, Realist is a must, he is definitely our best grey. He has also said he CAN NOT turtle, that leaves him in freestyle.

Four Grey, Three freestyle, two turtle.

Bottle was at one point hailed as the supreme turtler of FPS, so despite any doubts he may have, he needs to be appointed to the turtle team, because we are also lacking turtlers. Now, we're stuck, Bottle is the last Grey entry, which forces both allstar and Fry to turtle . . .

So now, we have a huge problem, Fry says he can't turtle, he can, maybe not at Wolfy's level, but he can, but we also don't really want to leave him out of the grey squad.

ACK! It's such a mind bender, any thoughts guys?

EDIT* Okay so basically.

Turtle: Warcow, Bottle, Wolfman. Freestyle: Realist, Allstar, Twelve, Frylock, Wolfman

Confirmed Grey: Wolfman, Bottle.

So, we need two of the Freestylers to turtle rather than play grey . . . Or not play freestyle, and switch to turtle and one grey maybe?

Either way, that is my analysis so far, I need someone to comment.

Bottle
09-20-2005, 02:21 PM
I've had enough of Tag Captain. Post #10,000!

Anyway, down to business. I saw this exact problem when I was looking at who would be grey. When I picked my team, it had a balanced 5 turtlers in it. This one doesn't.

Now, I have two suggestions. Either one of the team WILLINGLY gives his place to someone like Snarr (who is a kickass turtler), which isn't likely or fair. The second is to have Fry and Allstar turtle. Fry CAN turtle, no matter what he says. He's beaten me before. I have also played allstar at turtle, and while there was room for him to improve, he handled it well. With a bit of training I think he could do well.

Here's what I would suggest then:

Wolfman- free, turt, grey
Bottle- grey, turt
Warcow- grey, turt
Realist- grey, free
Twelve- grey, free
Allstar- turt, free
FryLock- turt, free

The only weakness in that team for me is allstar's turtling. Plus my turtling if we're using 1 scout.

Wolfy, I'd like that invite if it's not too much trouble. :)

Mithrandir
09-20-2005, 02:42 PM
I mean, no doubt, swift has skills, probably exceeding my own, but presuming he is playing grey, shouldn't Mithrandir made the grey squad?
:blush2:

First, I'm no longer playing so I would be extremely rusty. Second, I would need to be adept at a second skill, which I'm not. Third, I have never been on the level of a bottle, realist or wolfy so I'd be a dangerous choice.

Thanks for the compliment though.

Good luck to the team! Teach those legends guys a lesson!

Wolfman
09-20-2005, 02:49 PM
well, squad leaders, why make things so complicated....

plz consider my suggestion.... (note that we r a 9 man team.. sub included n they need to play n will play; thats my leadership style)

example:

Turtle squad: Wolfman(capt), Warcow(Sq. Ldr), Bottle, Monkus, Swift

Freestyle squad: Wolfman(capt), Realist, Allstar, Twelve, Frylock(Sq. Ldr)

Grey squad: Wolfman(capt), Warcow, Bottle(Sq. Ldr), Realist, Twelve

something like that.... copy??

wolfy

side-note -
1. squad leaders r chosen, not elected..... i oversee this team, trust me, i know what i am doing.
2. We do not need to play in that sequence yet (squad list)..... just do step one first, get your squad together n train.... then we decide the squad hit sequence list later.

Twelve

First of all, Bottle, I don't appreciate you saying that I suck at turtle.

But, I'll be blunt with you all. I've already made up my mind that I will be using Monkus and Swift as my subs.

I don't see any reason for me to turtle when Monkus can do it better than I.

I don't see any reason to grey when Swift can do it better than I.

So basically, if I HAVE to turtle or grey, I will call upon our worthy subs to take my place in those regards. I'm sure they will appreciate it.

Now when it comes to freestyle...hehe...I can beat anyone.

Turtle squad: Wolfman(capt), Warcow(Sq. Ldr), Bottle, Monkus, ???

Freestyle squad: Wolfman(capt), Realist, Allstar, Twelve, Frylock(Sq. Ldr)

Grey squad: Wolfman(capt), Warcow, Bottle(Sq. Ldr), Realist, Swift

choose your last wingmen, cow.

Might as well take me out of the turtle section if we're doing one scout. We'd just be handing legends a walkover. :(

FryLock
09-20-2005, 04:37 PM
Um, no.

Even with 1 scout, I'd place your abilities over mine. Though given my turtle style, I think 1 scout actually benefits me. You need to stay on that squad, botts.

I'll go wherever I'm told, but I'm confused. Does this mean that if I don't do turtle, I'm only doing 1 event? I don't object if that's the case, whatever makes the team stronger. I just don't want to spend time training for anything that I'm not going to do.

So basically, someone figure out what I need to do and I will do it.

As for "my" freestyle squad, I love it. I may be the squad leader, but I think the 4 others are at least equal, if not better. :)

Bottle
09-20-2005, 04:43 PM
Yeah, our freestyle and grey squad kicks ass. Our turtle team leaves a lot to be desired. But then, that's a legacy of turtles being immensely unpopular now it seems, meaning the good turtlers don't attract everyone's attention, so none were picked.

I think our team is going to struggle to make any sort of turtle team. I'm not turtling with 1 scout. I won't be any use to the team that way, unless I get some major practise in, and I have no one to practise against. I don't have gold on Legends, and no one here will play one-scout turtles...

FryLock
09-20-2005, 04:46 PM

Allstar (Netjak)
Wolfman (Outkast)
Warcow (The Elite)
Frylock (Netjak)
Bottle (SI)
Twelve (Netjak)
Realist (Pyro Pirates)

well heres my take.

allstar = free and grey
warcow = turtle and grey
fry = free and turtle
bottle = grey and turtle bot...ur known for ur turtling ability, wat would u rather do turtle or freestyle?
twelve = freestyle and turtle. his dsm style turtling will come in hand against only one scout, and this style wont affect him to drasticly.
realist = turtle and grey

i think the only thing that needs to be decided is between allstar and fry for grey and turtle.

ive played fry in grey and turtle and he deffinetly impressed me with both

dont know allstar but im guessing hed be better at grey.

u guys cant just "throw out" turtle becouse ur team captain is turtle and grey which means freestyle will have a need as well.

unless u made fry team captain, i think it would make more sence, but i also think wolf should be the one representing us as that spot.

just my 2 cents.

im out

also to bottle, ur good at grey, thats one scout....

Hey Bottle, whats with the defeatist attitude? We may not have our full game here, but we've still got some damn good players. Turtling with one scout is different, but it is do-able. Last time I played a one scout turtle it was against Wayf and I won! Yeah it was wierd, but hey, if I can beat him with no practice, then obviously the principles are still really similar. Hell Wayf is on their team, we CAN beat them.

Yeah, I'm worried about taking down Omegashin, but we can do it. We've got Wolfy, you, Monkus and myself at least, that is no easy squad to take down. Try the one scout turtle, I'm sure anyone on the team would be happy to practice with you. Don't count us out before we've even played.

FryLock
09-20-2005, 05:22 PM
Uh...this is confusing.

Here's what I think is set so far. I'm not worrying about who might do what, this is just my interpretation of who IS doing what for sure.

Free: Me, real, wolf, allstar, 12. (SET IS CLOSED)

Turt: Cow, Wolf, Bottle(?), TBA, TBA

Grey: Wolf, Bottle, Cow, Real, TBA

This means that Realist, Warcow and Wolf are the only ones with set events.

As I remember from the rules, everyone has to do 2 events. So

Bottle: By process of elimination, he must do turtle, unless he wants to give up his spot there, because he can't do freestyle.

Allstar: He must do either turtle or grey.

Fry: Same as allstar.

12: Same as allstar.

Monkus & Swift: Can they be subbed in for just one match?

The problem here is that certain configurations will lead to a "regular" member playing in only 1 event. Isn't that against the rules?

Dragoen Link
09-20-2005, 05:26 PM
Good luck against Shin and crx and Wayf ;)

Wolfman
09-20-2005, 05:44 PM
now listen up tur squad:

n i quote omega's post on the other thread....

I got it guys. Monkus is right. And bottle is right about what may happen in ties. But he is not right about the scouts, since if u say u can't turtle with one, than we can't turtle with 2. As u say strategy is completely different.

So, let's do that for every player is played a home and away game, one with 1 scout the other with 2 scouts.

For instance, i must play bottle in turtle format. I will play my home game with 1 scout and my away game with 2 scouts.

The tie problem is avoided by having a point for every match you win. It won't matter if i win 1 and lose 1, my team gets a point, his team gets 1.

The team that will have the most points after all events are completed will win ( and i really doubt there may be a tie at that point with this system, and if there was we can just have the captains have 2 more games in a format, than another format if the first is tied and finally the last format if they tie in all games)

Deal?
------
i think we hv a good deal here....

tur squad... what do u think???

n fry..... no prob if sub play only 1 match or confirm member 1 match.... this does not matter.

get to make this work guys!

n fry..... no prob if sub play only 1 match or confirm member 1 match.... this does not matter.

Realist
09-20-2005, 06:00 PM
We've decided that subs can sub for a max of 2/3 games per event, which is equal to subbing for one player per event. So, as long as we all show up to all of our games, we can use our subs to replace one person per event.

Free: Fry, real, wolf, allstar, 12. (SET IS CLOSED)

Turt: Cow, Wolf, Bottle, allstar, TBA

Grey: Wolf, Bottle, Cow, Real, TBA

I think Allstar said last night that he was good at turt and not grey, so if we add him to turt, we have one spot left in grey and one in turt. The players who can fill these two spots are: Monkus, Swift, 12, Fry

I've been practising my grey skills on Legends. Beat karlson, their #1 rated grey, by a meagre 4 units. Still having trouble with the 1-scout turtle problem, though... no one here will do it, and I can't afford a Legends double gold

Does he still bomb? He's really susceptable to a good grey turtle if you do it right . . .

No, we were playing no-drop grey. We got same-side turtles. He played pretty well... although blocking went a bit crazy at the end, as I killed a full-health knight from the front only  (admittedly, that was because he'd killed my cleric and was standing with a BW on one side and the side of the board on the other)

I played better than him though :D
