View Full Version : Level of Education

If this is a repeat thread, I appologize; just let it die quickly.
I just wanted to get an approximate feel of people's level of education on these forums. Ideally I would love to see how *players* compare. The excess of noobs appear to be much younger then the experienced players, and mostly don't read these threads.
The Professional School option should be kept to post-baccalaureate Graduate Level education, being doctors and lawyers, as opposed to a professional training such as realtor or hair-stylist.
If you are going to a university directly out of high school, you are getting your college (associates or bachelors) degree and should choose college.
Just wondering. :)

I wasn't sure where university is classed, so I put it in the bottom option.

I'd definately say option 3, even my Med school I put as 3. College is university.

No, University is College. I even specifically put, post-BS/BA. If you are fresh from high school as a first year in some big university, you're getting your college degree. heh.

In England, college =/= university.

mmm, depends exactly what type of college. it can mean a sixth form college or a "degree" college. hell my secondary school was a sixth form college and a language college....and a beacon school if anyone cares. narf!
universities are so much cooler anyway

in Canada collage does not equal university, at least not in Nova Scotia, university for us offers much more power on the playing field that is job hunting then collage could. collage by any means is better then just your grade 12 education but university is best.

Well, here in the U.S., the title University is generally used by institutions to show that they have both an undergraduate school (college), as well as various graduate programs. So, if you've come straight out of high school, it doesn't matter whether you're at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or Bryn Mawr College, you're in college, and are thus *not* earning your Graduate (Masters, PhD) or Professional (M.D., J.D.) degree.
However, the above response definitely speak to my curiosity of intelligence on these boards...

Be careful. It's wise not to confuse education with intellect. It doesn't necessarily take a rocket surgeon to have your master's or doctorate.

Who else is in graduate school?
I'm working on my Master's Degree (molecular biology). And as Northwind said, I have met several idiots who have advanced degrees. Just look at upper management at your job and see how much a MBA causes a decline in common sense.
When I was in college cross country, I ran 5 miles (8K) in 30 minutes. Not the fastest but kept me in shape.
In highschool, maybe 19-20 min 5k. Not sure on that time though.
Fastest mile (track) was 4:45 in college.

This poll seems quite extremely biased towards the higher levels...
My estimations for forums would be something like this:
5% Elementary
20% Middle
55% High
15% College
5% graduate

yeah, is that a good thing or a bad thing? (the subsequent "ugh" is hard to understand). I saw andalite perform a few weeks ago. she's just a #1 away. That's about as specific as I'll get in a public forum.
so, what kinda dance places they got round here? :)
Dancing is for girls. The best thing about being married is I don't have to dance anymore! In fact (this is the truth) when my wife says, "Let's bust a move", she means, "Let's clean the kitchen as fast as we can so we can go to bed and go to sleep."

Yeah being married sounds wonderful. All that cleaning and going to sleep. Who do you think dances with girls? (yeah sure I know, other girls, but sometimes it's guys too). Besides, those few guys who dance clearly are cushed on non-stop by all the girls.

I compare being married and being single to a savings account and the stock market. If you put your money in a savings account, you gain interest. If you put it in the stock market, sometimes you gain more, but sometimes you don't gain anything or even lose your money. A savings account is guaranteed. No risks, no market rises and falls, you know exactly what you're going to get and when you're going to get it. So, let me ask you single guys, how does the market look tonight? 9PM on a Monday night here. Oh, excuse me, my wife is saying it's my bedtime ;) I'll finish this post tomorrow.
