Well I was searching threw my computer the other day when I came across this picture of my old house, the picture was taken on august 21, 2003. I live in Kelowna BC, Canada, when the Okanagan Mountin Park fire hit, it hit every one, a hudge city under the flames, I remember looking from the store and hearing fire trucks (the fire was going on for more than 3 weeks) and was no suprise to see the fire trucks racing up the hill to my place, I started to see police and all kinds of fire trucks from diffrent areas, there was about 300 cars and trucks that went up, I thought it was really cool but soon after i learned that the police were demanding every one leave there house. I didnt no what to think, is this the last time I would see my house? Turns out it was the last time :( over 500 houses got hit, I first learned my house was down on the local news, I didnt no if I would cry, or just suck it up and go on with life, every thing of mine was gone. Here is some pictures I found for you guys to look at, in the last picture you can see homes, one of those are mine..

Well, that's what you get for being Canadian.......

Seriously though. That sucks. Did you get insurance to cover it all? And did you move to a less disasterous area?

No, our insurance did cover it all, but now we sortta have a fire gaurd, before it was all nice and green, every thing is burned now, so no fires are due to come back.

Naw, I'm not suggesting its fake.. it just looks different for some reason. I figured out why it looks different, there is ALOT more smoke in it. Probably when the fire was starting to go out?

ya they had about 20 air planes there bombing the fire, i would be down at the beach, cuz i stayed after every one got evacuated, it was liek a ghost town, so i went to the beach and i got some pictures of my own, ill try to scan them i was like 20 feet from the hudfge water bombers from quebec, but it was a big experience all together.

Well, since I already know you survived (unless Hell has internet access) I thought I'd give you a song.

Watch out you might get what you're after
Cool baby strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house

Hold tight wait 'til the party's over
Hold tight we're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house

Here's your ticket pack your bag; time for jumpin' overboard
Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, baby you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire

All wet hey you might need a raincoat
Shakedown thieves walking in broad daylight
Three hundred sixty five degrees
Burning down the house

It was once upon a place sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work say baby what did you expect
Gonna burst into flame
Go ahead

My house S'out of the ordinary
That's right Don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothing yet
Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect staring into the TV set
Fighting fire with fire

Burning down the house
Burning down the house
Burning down the house

hell has internet, just porn/parent filters on it ;)

I understand the fire danger, my part in north california always has some sort of large fire in the summer. Sometimes its a ways away, sometimes close, always hits hard.

Wow, Merdoc. I am happy to see you came through it. It is a terrible thing to lose everything. I can imagine the hardest thing for your parents was the lose of memories and photo's. T.V's, computers and even cars and houses can be replaced, but it's those personal momento's that cannot that hurt the most to lose. I was thinking of what I would take with me if I had to evacuate, and it's tough. Good luck with the future Merdoc.

I have one question though, has this experience given you any ideas on what you want to do with your life?

Merdoc.
10-23-2005, 04:51 PM
acually, yes, ever since i want to be a foresty fire fighter.
