Halberdiers are warriors with halberds, or pikes. The long reach from these weapons gave these men a distinct advantage over other fighters, especially when defending. Unfortunatly, these heavy weapons, plus armor, gave them slow speed.
Halberdier
HP: 46
Armor: 20
Power: 20
Range: 2
Block: 50%
Movement: 2
Wait: 1
NOTE: the 2 range only means he can attack ONE unit with a two range directly away from him - LOS applies.
First, the Halberdier has a halberd. A pike. A spear with two awe blades attached to it.
Second, the Halberdier has a special attack (a secondary attack). Its called "Defend" and this is what it is:
Standered way to activate it, when done, the Halberdier will plant the back end of the halberd into the ground, and brace. In effect, doing what pikemen do when being charged by Knights on horse back - creating a wall of sharp points. The halberd is streched over the two squares directly in front of the Halberdier.
(NOTE: this means that in order to do this attack, it requires pre-turn planner in order to make him face the correct way)
Defend does 25 points of unblockable damage to any unit that enters onto the halberd.
Perhaps more clearly: The Halberdier Defends. His halberd goes out. Suppose the enemy player is takeing his turn, and he has a assassin in the area. The assassin will be unable to take a direct path through the halberd, but will be able to step onto the halberd. I.e., the squares underneath the halberd will be blue. Example (H=Halberdier, h=halberd(pike), A=assassin):
123
4hA
5h7
6H8
The sin can step into the "h" next to her, the second "h" futher down, but cannot pass through these sqaures. However, the sin can get to point "4" by passing through points 1,2,3. Points 5 and 6 are unassesible.
Basically, it blocks two squares off. Any unit can "unblock" them by running onto them, but it takes 25points of damage, and the Halberdier returns to normal position.
Other notes: The Halberdier cannot Defend if there is a unit (even a shrub) in the two front squares. A smart oppenent will be able to block the Halberdier from Defending. A normal attack can destroy two shrubs if the Halberdier attacks the one that is two sqaures away (like a Beast Rider). And shrubs that are grown onto the "Defending" halberd are destroyed, and the halberd remains in the Defend position.
Also Note: the halberd in Defend position is invincible, and cannot be attacked. If the Halberdier is attacked, he loses focus, and returns to normal position.
Further note: The Halberdier in Defend position blocks Scout LOS.
The Halberdier can block units from moving around by Defending - the oppenent must ether use a unit to break the Defend (and taking 25 points of damage), going around, or attack the Halberdier.
Long, but I'm done. I hope its clear.
Now criticize it!;)
