View Full Version : New Stats System

Well, I was thinking of a new stats system that would help high-stat people raise their stats higher for each game and get rid of some boosters.

We could gain/lose stats based on how many units you and your opponent have left when a victor is decided. For example, you would gain a lot of stats if you have a lot of units remaining and you wiped out all your opponent's units (wards don't count, and paralyzed units count as dead), you would gain moderate stats if you beat your opponent, but he took out a lot of your units in the process, and little stat gain if you have one unit left. Works the same way with losing stats. This way (since boosters mostly just go in and surrender), since the booster's other account just surrenders immediatly, you would gain little/no stats because the opponent would have all their units remaining. Also, this helps some higer-stat people raise their stats faster. Lastly, this helps when some people are seconds away from winning, then they get d/ced, so they would lose a fairly small amount of stats.

I know there are some problems, like high-stat people can just play newer players to flawless them, so I was thinking that maybe this system could be put in place to people who have like 850 - 900 stats or above, and have the regular system for people below.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

I prefer the tier system. Its more indicative to player skill. Any system can be abused, but as least this one has some measure of rating.

Booster uses one account with 2 pieces, one with 10. Surrenders, and gets max stat boost.

One advantage of the current system is the stat cap. The higher you are, the higher your opponent must be for you to get stats. This prevents easy stat boosting at the higher levels.

Well I was thinking it would be calculated by the number of units that you destroy/kill/paralyze, but yeah ok, good points.

worst idea ever... a win is a win. Why should you get more points for decimating a newb?

You don't.

You do know any newb can get stats 1100 in a day, and still not know how to play against 1500+ players, right?
Why do you think the current stats cutoff exists?

W-L-D.. oh how I miss her. Would be neat to see a combo of the two stats. Rating based on Wining, and the rank of the player you beat plus show overall wins lossess draws. The current "chess base system" is inaccurate for this type of game.

Units left don't always indicate how close a game was. Turtle games are often amazingly close, even though the unit counts don't show it.

Furthermore, this would dissuade surrendering early. If you lost the game, and it's clear (No Wayfaerer, you can't beat 3 knights, 2 scouts, and a beast rider with your furgon, frosty and lightning ward), you should surrender, not try and kill as many units as possible before being crushed.

Precisely, you need to think about it.
The system we have now is probably the best rating system we have and ever will have, in it's own sort of way it does prevent boosters.
