As it is, there is a huge influx of tournaments and people are going out of turn. They should have to get permission from mods, who could enforce a fair first come first served policy. This would keep the tournament thread from getting too cluttered and would avoid problems like iceman is having with people jumping in line while he's trying to wait for the major tournies to end.

thats a pretty nide idea, because theres like 3 tourneys going on right now at the same time.

Well, you cant really stop that. You cant make it so you have to have special privledges to post in the tourney thread. The only real thing you could do is just have a mod close the thread until they have permission to make it.

I love this concept. Personally, I have been doing the responsible thing by waiting for Mith's and Duo's tournament to end before I started my own. Since I first posted annoucing my tourny, four tournaments have been proposed or run, including one which was an exact copy of my own. This pushes back my own tournament and allows crappier ones to exist instead. I would highly recommend mods "okay" tournament threads before anyone is allowed to create them.

Actually in these forums you could leave it to the moderators to apporve posts before they show. Pople could create new threads but a moderator woul have to okay them before they went live. It could be done in any section some sections it would be good in .. Tourneys... Announcements.. CAU.. Suggestions... Just a thought..

If n00b golds want to run there own tournies let them, it's not like it will hurt TAO.

Maybe have a tournies Board, and an Official Tournies board.
the Tournament board we have now, could be used for random golds, to make random tournaments when ever they want, and the official tournament board, could be used in the following manner

Step 1 - PM a moderator, with the full details of your tournament, as if you were to post it for everyone to se and sign up.
Step 2 - Wait for a reply from the moderator.
Step 3 - Post in the official Tournaments board(or have mod do it), and have the moderator post that he/she has read, and agrees that the tournament will be an official one.

If the post is not an official one, then the thread will simply be locked.

Either that, or have the same basic rules, but useing only the current Tournament board, and have all Official Tournaments stickied until they are completed.

it's just the problem of having to wait to run your own tourny, and not having 3 other tournaments going on at the same time. Also the more spread out the tournaments are, the more people can compete in them so a schedule or calender is a really good idea:)

Yea we have a tourny calender...all we need is for it to be used properly and hopefully it will become common knowledge to use it to pick your tourny dates.

That does, however, prevent update threads, plus from my experience with reviews, the mods, though highly qualified, are not the most responsive in the world. I've had a review pending for like a month now, and I wouldn't want tourney threads held up like that.

I agree 'bout the mods part. Army board hasn't been touched by a mod other than one spamming thread, since hugh junit became a Moderator. He went to army... I repped him for being Spam control... then I never saw any spam control on their anymore! >.<

It doesxn;t prevent them, as there is not an actual lock on making threads. Just threads for new tournaments would need approval. Generral tournament discusssion, as well as updates, would still be as normal.

if we're lucky maybe he has a good one, I stand by my saying that most ppl just shouldn't run those sorts of things. takes more than an idea to run a proper tournament.
