Could someone possibly allow greys to have custom avatars? I mean, they are allowed to have custom siggys, and I definitely think custom avatars for everyone would make the community, no, the PLANET a better place. Also, I highly doubt that any outraged golds would storm off because we greys were also allowed to have avatars...If Bills or the like could chime in on this, it would be great. :) '

Gold forum users do get custom avatars... Right? I never see some of those on the starting list.

I've gathered that they give you this "ticket" thing you can use to upgrade your account here and get custom avatars and maybe something else with it.

yea...I just dont understand why they dont let greys have custom avatars. At least they could take suggestions for avatars to be added to the custom avatar list, and choose 1 a month or something. That would rock, but nothing ever happens here. ;) The Rev v. Legends is the first thing to happen in ages, but Digis had absolutely nothing to do with it. Go figure. :)

Ethics? More like basic economic principle. For greys to have a custom avatar, TAO has to save the image and place it on the website.... this takes up server space, meaning it has a potentially noticeable impact over the large group of greys that exist

so only make it for greys who have a certain number of posts, or who have a certain number of posts per day, or both. It doesn't have to be for those greys who come on, make an elaborate signiature, make 1 post, and leave. ;) I just think the participating community in general deserves to have one of the standard features of a forum, not just those who pay 5 dollars a month (even if just for 1 month).

Actually, if you had a friend with multiple gold accounts, you might get the second account's ticket from them... Or if you don't have any friends, you could buy one for a little less, like two or three bucks.

TAO used to allow all custom avatars and CUTs.

Since Bills made the specific decision to stop allowing it, I doubt he will change his mind just because a non-customer asks for it.

PS. Couldn't the Admins make it so the person hosts the avatar so it won't use their bandwidth?
