View Full Version : Attacking your own units to win...

Weird battle I just won. I had a two knights (both 4 HP,completely useless) and an assassin, against two of his full health knights. If I'd gone for straight out attack, I'd have been slaughtered, but I attack my own assassin with my knight, the assassin goes down to 2HP and I did an assassin bomb on their two knights, and won!
I find it weird that you can win, indirectly, by attacking your own units. Anyone else had anything similar?

it's nothing new or weird to make a sassy bomb using your own units instead of letting your opponent to do the job (which s/he of course never will, if he is sane or simply not a newb). It's part of the strategy and very often confuses your opponent ^^. I started doing that after one of my opponents did the same against me. I make my own bombs quite often now :p
go go sassy bombs!! :D

no not quite, the majority of ppl in this game know about the assassin bomb. I have seen many ppl attack their own assassin just so they could kill a scout, witch, pyro, knight, etc. It just another strategy in the game that people use

Some people actually take the assassin down inside their turtles and barrier her to keep scouts away. It works pretty well. I almost lost a game from one of those.

My opponents first move is usually attacking my lightning ward with his knight and then using his pyro to hit his own knight, his own pyro, and my ward. I must say this incredible showing of power is quite impressive!

I will attack my own units, but rarely do now. Most of the people I play are smart enough to know what I'm planning. Otherwise they will see the assassin weakened and attempt to kill it. If you can manage to get you assassin to the required HP, I'd suggest doing it. But also try to get as many high HP units ( basically knight or DT) in the correct position to eliminate both.

yeah, i started to attack my assassin with my scouts, 2 hits does it usually. but i'd usually find i'd get slaughtered my the DMW or something. so i stopped doing it and hoped they'd start killing her instead. it's not new or anything.. it started as a clan secret then got out.

on the theme of attacking your own units to win, someone i am playing on banff seems to think they'll win by killing their own units. so far, i haven't moved a single unit, and they've killed a knight, an assassin two pyros and their witch

The concept of using reverse-tactics to win a game is not normally justified, but it can be. For instance: Barriering one of your enemies so they can't be healed, or barriering one of your enemies so the enemy and it's allied units can't move right through it to commense an attack.

i think assassin bombs are just an excuse for people who cant come up with any kind of strategy!
