You know how people are always complaining about how the “General Discussions” forum is getting worse? Well, I think I might know why, and it isn’t entirely because of idiotic members, but more idiotic (unintelligent, stupid, lame) threads. Luckily for all of us, this is a fixable problem. All we have to do is start making better threads.

I issue a challenge (double-dare?) to everyone who has ever said (typed) that the forums are dying, being overcrowded with noobs, etc. – I want all of you to create one funny and/or interesting thread. One that lasts. Create a decent thread, keep it on subject (don’t let it turn into random discussions), keep it witty, entertaining, and basically GD-worthy. If everyone who claims that the forums used to be so much better than they are now, how could it not get better?

The challenge is issued. I expect veterans to flame me as a noob and the noobs to flame me by saying something like “lol vival u cud mak it better by leavin”. Fortunately, this is a sacrifice I am willing to take. Unless it turns out too ugly.

Note: Yes I’m aware that the game of TAO itself is going downhill, but that is out of our grasps.

Yeah, but thinking about a good idea for a thread is hard.

So...in order to cut down on spam and n00b threads, you want us to create, in essence, more of those threads?

Does a Five Word Story Thread count as a good thread?

Just trying to not post stupid things is a great way to start.

question...what if we like joining associations but don't necessarily want to make the section "better"?

Does a Five Word Story Thread count as a good thread?

*attaches collar to woger*

that'll keep you from wandering into threads like these!

See Vival? It's not that threads are getting worse, it really does have to do with the posters. You post a great thread, and what do you get? Some of Woger's trademark quality humor  and some 5000-post kid who completely misses your point.

I'm amused how you think this doesn't apply to you. Let's take a walk down memory lane. By the way this thread can be found here (http://www.tacticsarena.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16434).

Part of the reason could have been that it had been done before, it was called the This or That (http://www.tacticsarena.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12676) thread. The original thread was never closed, so recreating another would lack purpose.

I would actually say instead that less threads should be made.

When you say you challenge everyone to make a thread, what are we going to get? A lot of threads, most of them useless.

Instead I challenge everyone to not make threads. Ever. Unless you have the best idea in the world. Or pretty close anyways.

So creating a thread announcing that you're actually a male when you're not, is close to the best idea for a thread?

I issued a challenge to those members who have said (typed) that the forums are dying, being overcrowded with noobs, etc. Most of the members who say (type) that the forums are going downhill are usually veterans who have witnessed the forum at it's peak. Why would someone who doesn't know what quality threads are like say that the forums are dying? They have nothing to relate it too.

Instead I challenge everyone to not make threads. Ever. Unless you have the best idea in the world. Or pretty close anyways.
Exactly. I'm challenging people to only create a good thread that is funny and/or interesting.
So creating a thread announcing that you're actually a male when you're not, is close to the best idea for a thread?
It was funny and did last. It got a reaction from people and wasn't garbage.

he got you there glammy. that wasnt exactly beneficial to the forum.
i think that the spirit of thisthread rather than the point is more important. dont post stupid threads. and try to make posts consistent with the thread. of course that's a tall order for some of us, possibly including myself, so i dont really think this thread will change much.

glam is a girl ric.

You don't have to read all 37 pages to find out. A little more than 2 pages back someone mentions it.
