sneaky ways to win

Right, well seeing as how I've fallen victim to this twice today, I thought I would stick it up here to try and stop other helpful players falling to the same prank.

Now, I am sure we all know the basic ones. swearing, F5, ctrl+R, alt+F4. But these are a little more subtle.

First guy asks me a couple of game questions, and then says what does a/s/l mean. So I answer, and because I use the word sex, I get booted.

Second time, guy says he's doing a paper on the UN and needs to know the name of the US vice president. So I answer Dick Cheney, and again get booted.

Are there any other things like this that I and other newbies should know about.

I would stop talking, but part of the fun is having an interesting conversation. If I wanted to just play against silent people, i'd play battle chess by myself.

I've often enjoyed a game that I've lost more because of the conversation, than games that I've won.

Simple rule for not falling for these types of tricks:

Think before you write. How often do people come to an online game to ask questions about the UN? Why would anyone want to know an african country beginning with N? Does anyone who asks what asl is sound like a sensible person?

If someone tells me to press something, I don't. That's just asking for trouble, but the rest.

It's fine to say think before you write, but unless you are expecting it, you won't realise.

And to be honest, I expect that sort of crap from new guys. Not from guys who have what appears to be good stats.

And yes, I am a little bitter about this.

But half of those "good stats guys" got there soley because of this. Lots of people think that once they are 900+ they are superior and try to do stuff like this, best advice is just to write it down on a piece of papaer or see it in your head and think about it.

I just toy around with the kids! I push f5 because I have firefox, and say something like, "Damn thats sweet! I just got 5 stat points!" And they say really? and i'm like ya, just try ctrl f4.

I also discovered pressing ALT + 1 & 8 simutaneouly, closes the screen.Happened to me when I was making something from the character map to check stats heh

They wont just say that either. You can also use (by the way, people used these on me): You get upgraded; You get more stats if you win; If you win after pressing it, you can get a unit. All bad in my opinion.:bigsmile:

Ouch.... I have been hit by lots of those. I am a gullable person. I just remember them and try not to fall for them again. I never really understod the chess expert one until now... how illuminating....
