What do you use?

I am wondering how many ppl use a turt, rush, bomb, or even a hybrid and why. I use an all out rush no cleric and I am a gold, I use it cause I think by overwhelming my oppenent with sheer power will get me too win which it does. (=

Man I could never stand to use a turt. Game takes too long with turts I think, but why dont yah use an all out bomb? Arent they supposed to be awesome?

I dont have the right units on Rev for a successful bomb, and it just doesnt take any real talent to use

How come most of you say they cant stand turts :( I suck at them and I find them to be the most interesting games bcuz they require more skill and strategy.....Sometimes long games are fun :)

They are fun in the same sense of a grey game is, there is no real major advantage of first turn and strategy is the basis of your win......only on gold turts games are on a larger and even funner scale! :bigsmile:

i agree with †Twilight_Dragon†, turtles are the best kind of game because they require skill, but i am more of a rush person ^_^

Turtle:15%(these are only good people not noobs that change sets every game)
Rush: 50%
anti: 20
bomb:5%
hybrid:10%

rush and bomb are too similar for my liking. I would go as far to say certain rushes are just bombs with different units. I prefer the good ol turt. Its a shame TAO had to move on from the days when ervyone either turtled or bombed and it was just skill asa turtler which could win it for you. Ah well.

How can so many of you maintain that bombing or rushing requires less skill than turtling? I have turtled and i DO turtle to switch up my sets (just to keep things fresh y'know) but I prefer my rush.

I consistently win with it, bouncing around 1400 against all types of counter strategies. I have defeated bombs with a turtle by going second. I have defeated turtles with a bomb by going second. The purpose of those statements isn't to inflate my ego, it's to debunk the glaring falsehood that bombing takes no skill which so many otherwise talented players maintain.

The myth that bombers are mindless point-and-clickers is ridiculous! You need to know the order when to attack, what weak points to attack, how to set things up to deal maximal damage. When to sacrifice, when to retreat. If using a cleric, precisely when to heal, when to distract, HOW to distract...the list continues. I ask you, people of Tactics Arena, are those not skills, don't bombers deserve merit in having the ability to calculate to a precise degree all of those crucial variables?

True, sometimes a bomb will blow a turtle out of the water, and that may be frustrating for some, but it is the crafting of a set that must be scrutinized not the person who chooses to rush. Any given form should be adaptable against any other set. The best sets invariably are. A safety valve is necessary. If your set only works against another specific set, your set is --WORTHLESS--...sorry to burst your bubble.

Just because so many lack the talent to counter a bomb or strike, or to even know talent if it punches them in the stomach, the blatant disregard towards rushers' skills NEEDS TO STOP!

Sorry if i wasnt that clear in my statement, it is much harder to master turtling than it is to master rushing, and it takes more skill........and good turtlers can beat a lot of the rushers nowadays, about half of them are nubs

Usually when i lose turt vs rush it isnt because if have been outwitted, just outmuscled or outlucked

Everytime I try a bomb type form, I end up losing much more than when I am turtling. I know that they do require less skill, but you do have to be skillful with a bomb to use it correctly.

Yes, and i did say they require some skill to use(i believe my exact words were "very little"), and the most likely reason you win more when turtling is because of how adaptable the turtle is, it can transform and adjust to the situation much better than most other forms out there.........another reason you might lose more with bomb is that most good players will know how to effectively counter it(they may not always win, but they can still play against it perfectly), easy to use doesnt mean not mean most effective

anyway, the same is true with anyformation tho, you need to know what your doing and how to use it to do so effectively, all i'm saying is that there isnt too much you need to know to use it to its potential, and what you need to know about it, isnt all that complicated

There is no such thing. When has bombing ever been considered a good tactical formation? Never. Calling someone a bomber has always been an insult and will always be, wonder why that is..............

Rush is an improved bomb. It shares the same basic principle. Be very aggresive and do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible. Obviuosly this is not true for most rushes but for the very large majority.

Rushing does require skill. Bombing does not. This is how the bomb evolved to become acceptable.

Ive been around for a while. If i could go back and look at a "bomb" from those days, it would be very similar to a rush nowadays except rushes usually use a cleric.

Im actually going home for christmas. Meaning in approximately 9 hours, i wont have access to TAO till january. In february, ill be ready and finished all my exams for the moment. I will gladly play you. Ill play you at all 3 sets. I wouldnt be so overconfident about winning if i was you.

As for blaming luck, you havent seen how lucky i can be. I am occasionally notorius for it. :cool:

I dont mind disucussing the arguement over the forums aswell but you dont seem to want to.
