View Full Version : A new use for the BW

I searched the thread and could not find a thread similar to this.
While playing on Rev, I thought about mixing my setup a little bit to test my 1/2 gray, 1/2 gold setup. Amidst my units was a BW, a scout, and a wisp. I entered a match with a new (yet fairly good) gold. The game started to get pretty tense towards the end after I made a few risky moves in order to de-scout him. The resulting units were: Me; scout, knight, BW, and wisp. Him; cleric, knight, LW, and dragon. I knew I was finished if I did'nt pull another risky maneuver. His cleric had 6 health and 1 recovery, and his dragon had 18 health and 2 recovery. His knight was on the other side of the playing field guarding his cleric. What I did was: barrier his dragon so when he healed the dragon gained no health (this was suicidal if it didnt go as planned), after he healed I wisped his dragon therefore prolonging his turn making him move without attacking, shot his cleric with my scout and finished the dragon with my knight. I came out with a knight and a BW left.
I've found that barriering an enemy unit until there cleric heals is an effective way to kill a powerful unit.
If this has been said and/or a thread made about it please inform me.

I've seen someone mention this as a theoretical possibility on a thread, but I've never seen or done it in an actual game. Very nice!

Yah, you usually need to have a situation where its heal and miss the dragon or dont heal and die. Thnx for the feedback and rep guys ;)

I have done it a couple of times... its halarious to see:
Guy: LoL you n00b hes my guy!!!
Me: Just wait...
*he attempts to heal but doesnt do it*
Guy: N0 u n00b!!!
Guy: *surrenders*
Very funny, these guys get so frustrated because of a one unit loss and they quit.
Unless it was a last unit, which is still funny because they then realise that they're stupid and surrender anyway.

i did that when i was dying long ago when i was a noob. i though i was dead so i might as well barrier that huge dragon my opponent had(i was grey) he couldnt heal, but his dragon still killed my cleric, afterward i killed his dragon though....its a great achievement for a noob

I have seen it done in quite a few games now... it can get annoying if your units are in a big need of healing and if the bariered unit is still recovering...
it's part of the strategy just as sassy bomb is :p

well i played a person who didnt look like a noob, and he kept barriering my units at full health, i guess he thought they couldn't move......

I never really put a use to the BW that way. Now that you mentioned I have to try it. Looks like you played well! + rep

Cool, but couldn't you have just wisped his dragon initially? Since the dragon had 2 recovery, even if your opponent healed and fled with his dragon once it was available again, you could kill his cleric and then wisp the dragon again, bringing it to only 6 hp...enabling an even easier kill and making it less likely that the dragon could get even a single attack.
I have never once seen a situation in which using the BW to prevent a unit from healing had any use...99.9% of the time, its more useful to just attack the unit.

My wisp had 1 wait turn...I forgot to include that little fact ;). But yes, initially I could have used the wisp but then the cleric would have healed the dragon. It was a last minute decision so I did'nt put a lot of thought into it, thnx for the input :)
