Okay, I know I haven't posted a thread here in ages, and have probably lost the magic touch! But...
Is it just me or does the forum load slower than poo down a dry pipe?
I mean seriously, so the admins want a good looking site, given! But you should really learn how to code the HTML properly, and not use huge header images, and use adds that take 30 seconds each to load.
Okay, so my analogy was... bad, but its like your loading an image with 2000 by 2000 resultion in the PNG format, it just takes so darn long for the page to display.
I think this is one of the many things, that shall be discussed later, that have detered me from these forums (yes, I know, some of you may have liked that). I think we would all agree that the new digis site is much cooler than this one, and loads twice as fast.
Conclusion: You can make things asthetically pleasing without asking the client to wait a couple minutes. I mean, I have CABLE, I hope you guys with dial up and even broadband are okay...
With a show of hands, and yes, you may photograph them and display them here, or send them to me by mail, I would liek to get a general idea of who agrees, and who thinks that these forums load like a breeze...

Use firefox. Download adblock. Block the ads. Cut the time in half or more.

Mine load fine usually.
That's a great analogy.
Try to use it as much as you can, for everything.
Bring up things just to slip that in.

What ads??
The ones at the very top?
I only ever see one, and it's always off screen.
Be careful with adblock, sometimes it blocks things that you want to see.
But overall, it's great.

Get back to your Superior FWD forum, and leave the complaining to us! :p
We've (meaning some of us) already complained about this, and a couple other new things, in multiple threads.

Adblock blocks only what you tell it to. When you first install it, it does absolutely nothing.
You have to give it filters - the web addresses that the images comes from. So it can't block things you want to see unless you tell it to.
You're thinking of something else.

Snork double-posted!?
Every chance I get. ;)
cx_zero: There's a rule against double posting? I still see a lot of them. Other people went right past it and started triple posting for some reason.
I use Firefox.
Glam: When I started using firefox, it didn't have a selective blocker, at least not that I was aware of. It just automatically blocked everything. Including most of the TAO pages. It was ridiculous. I see that it's working better now, maybe the new versions are better.

The forum has sped up a lil bit over the past few days from what it was, so it's not to bad now, though whenever I move my mouse over those smilies, gets to be quite annoying hearing "HELLLLOOOOO" every once in awhile.

Maybe it is and you're just slow, so you don't notice?
Sorry. :)

no you're not
I've never seen an add, and I just use plain ol' firefox. No issues here, I thought it was a joke by ppl when they first started complaining.

Even with adblock, however, these forum are slower now. But hey, it's better than withOUT adblock, that's for sure.
