Taking a lead from Ach, and I don't know if everyone else feels the same way I do about this, but I think they do. This is an official letter to the administration of Tactics Arena that rejects the use of sound in advertisements.

Tactics Arena Online Administration: We the members of Tactics Arena Online, who have already displayed dismay at the introduction of advertisements on the webpage, are willing to demonstrate a level of compromise and accept their existence. However, because the main justification for these was their relative noninterference with normal site activities, and because their intent is not to garner significant attention, but only to place the display within reach of members, there is a problem with some of the currently endorsed advertisements, namely those that have specific sound sequences attached. Some advertisements have looping sound files, that make it extremely difficult to perform normal functions on the website, and it ought not be to our inconvenience, as the clients, that these advertisements exist.
Thus, as the stated clientele, we request that all advertisements that include such sound be banned from the site henceforth.

Example picture of such an advertisement:
http://img348.imageshack.us/img348/4878/awfuladvertisement1og.jpg

This advertisement makes "camera sounds" endlessly, and I have not once been able to use the website for more than 10 seconds without having to refresh until I get a different advertisement, or just stop using the site altogether for the time being.
If something as annoying as this is allowed, there's no reason for why something equally bad won't be approved in the future.

TAO doesn't filter these advertisements. They come from a different source entirely, which authorizes the advertisements. Short of barring advertisements completely, nobody involved with the administration can get rid of the noise ads, correct?

An easy way to keep the advertisements that bring revenue to the site and to keep the players from being annoyed is to download FireFox with the ad blocker . . . come on. It's not hard.

And if some of us can't download firefox or won't use it because of frequent disconnects and problems?

Is it possible to get rid of specific advertisements or not?

Wrong. When you sign up for these ad companies, you can choose what kind of ads, and what kind of content, to allow.

I think firefox SUCKS!!!!! When I downloaded it, I downloaded the adblock and deleted all the .Gif and .jpg's. Irt will not let me block flash stuff.

Also when I downloaded firefox and started to use it, I got 130 spyware. I only got 2-3 when I had IE. So I decided to switch back to IE. IE is so much better.

Sounds like once again, it is a retarded user, not the program, that is the cause of the problems......

The ads with sounds are f**king annoying. I don't care about the fact of ads being there, but when they ruin a perfectly good song, that pisses me off. :D

The other ads aren't as annoying anymore. I'm kind of getting used to ignoring them. But when I'm listening to my music, I don't want some stupid camera sound cutting in. Grr!
