Strategic, Yet Simple- When creating a golem, you must bring forth a new intriguing tactic. For example, when the Mud Golem had the new earthquaking attack, it made most players turn away from turtling. Some players, however, took advantage of the earthquake attack for playing turtle vs. turtle games. In any type of battle, the earthquake attack brought a new, fascinating way of play. Although golems have a crisp outline as to their statistics, they can make a small new attack or feature have a lasting effect in the game.
Defensive or Offensive?- All of the golems so far are either strictly offensive or strictly defensive. Of course you can argue about this, but for the most part, it holds true.
Frost Golem- Defensive.
This golem's attack freezes an approaching unit from coming into your base. Therefore, it's mainly defensive.
Stone Golem- Defensive.
Although you can do whatever you would like with the units that you give +30 armor to, the actual attack of the Stone Golem provides a strong defense for its chosen units. The Stone Golem's unique attack created the turtle game and it surely had a lasting effect on TAO.
Golem Ambusher- Offensive.
From endangering clerics to knocking out focuses, the Golem Ambusher is mainly an offensive unit. However, as some Legenders did in the beginning, you can make a very nice anti-rush with a knight wall and furgon, while having a Golem Ambusher in the middle. As approaching units come close, you can chuck rocks at them to make them retreat. Now if only this was the prime use of the unit today, TAO would be a lot more strategic.
Mud Golem- Offensive.
With its quake attack, this golem can keep opponents on their feet as they focus on destroying it. This makes for a wide variety of strategy, if you choose to delay the destruction of your Mud Golem by poisoning attacking units of your opponent.
As you can see in the above examples, golems have always made TAO an original game. Now, I will provide you with the outline of creating a golem in Create-A-Unit.

Outline of Creating a Golem Unit
Health- 60
Armor- 0
Blocking- 0%
Movement Range- 2
Attack- Here's your chance to be creative!
Attack Range- Choose an appropriate range for your original attack to tone down abuse potential or to provide more possibilites for its usage.
Recovery Time- Choose an appropriate recovery time for your golem. This can be used to slow down your golem, also to make it more balanced.
________________________
Exceptions...
Mud Golem- Has a movement range of 5 in order to ambush units from behind without risking a block
Stone Golem- Has 30 armor because.. well.. it's.. basically a rock. It also specializes in armor for its attack, so the high armor that it has is very appropriate.
Now have fun creating your golem!
