So you probably just started to play TAO right? And maybe you just came up with some stupid name and you really need a good one. So here the guidelines to making a username:
First your username should have a point to it.
Either :
1.) A funny name. People will usually respect you if your name makes them laugh. [Example: muffinman]
2.) A "cool" name. This is the most popular point to a name. People will typically respect you if your name well...Sounds cool :D [Example: Alpha_Wolf]
3.) An original name. People will usually give you props if your name is original. [Example: A smiley face like : =)]
1.1 A funny name. Ways to make your name, well, funny! Some different ways to be funny are puns, putting a twist on something, alliteration and rhyming, and irony. Although these are the only ones listed, there tons of other ways to make a name funny. You just to come up with them :bigsmile:.
1.2 Puns. A pun is a play on words. Like
"What did the doctor say to the fruit?"
"What?"
"What's the matter, orange you feeling ok :D?"
Yes, puns are kind of corny, but they're still considered funny. An example of a pun name would be : Spleen Day, as opposed to Green Day (band)
1.3 Putting a Twist on Something Putting a Twist on Something is like a pun, except the word you change ot take away doesn't have to rhyme. A perfect example of this is my own name, meet the fudgers (Twist on meet the fockers (movie)) But if you want another...Hairy Bladder, which is a Twist on Harry Potter. (book)
1.4.1 Rhyming Rhyming is when two words sound the same. [Poop And Scoop.] Rhyming is a very simple way to make a funny name. An Example... Smarty Barty is an example of rhyming
1.4.2 Alliteration Alliteration is when the same beggining sound is used with two or more words in a row. There's not much else to it! An example...Freaky Freddy is an example of alliteration.
1.4.3 Rhyming Alliteration! Simply 1.4.1 & 1.4.2 put together! It is usually pretty hard to come with a name like this Soogy Shnoogy is an example of Rhyming Alliteration.
1.5 Irony Irony is when you think something is going to happen, but the opposite does. The perfect example of this are Oxi-morons. An oxi-moron is just about impossible. TheHonestLiar would be an example of irony.
1.6 Weird Funny Names These have to be totally original. There is just something about these names that makes them funny. One example of this is muffinman. You don't really get why it's funny, it just is :D.
1.7 Random. Random names like : fvfjewbhjk are NOT funny.
1.8 Appropriate. All names ahould be appropriate. Even if they are funny, if they include s*xual terms or cusses, you might just be banned from TAO.
2.1 Cool names. Hmmmm, there really isn't much to say here, most of it has to be your creativity. But two ways to make your name sound cool is Come up with an original name that sounds cool, or a clever play on words.
2.2 an original name that sounds cool. This, unfortunately, is almost completely based on creativity. So all I can give you is an example. Bottle is the name of an original name that sounds cool.
2.3 a clever play on words. This is very similar to 1.3 but instead os being funny, its sounds cool. An example of this kind of name is Sir Vival which is a clever twist off survival.
3.1 Original names. An original name is usually a name with symbols or numbers in it. These names always seem to turn out really well. Two ways to make your name original is to use numbers/symbols in place of letters, or to have a name that's not even a word!
3.2 Using numbers/symbols in place of letters. The title pretty much said it all. Here are some symbols that you can use:
1 = I or L
2 = Z
3 = E
4 = A
5,$ = S
0, (), {}, º = O
/\/ = N
/\/\ = M
\/\/ = W
[) = D
† = T
There are also many others. T3kM4n is an exmple of using numbers/symbols in place of letters.
3.3 a name that's not even a word. A lot of people don't choose to do these, but I think they're very clever. Most people will do smiley faces for this one, but if you can think of something else, great! An example of a name that's not even a word is: *_*. NOTE: RANDOM NAMES ARE NOT ORIGINAL!!
