Ahh, so you are on line! I sat there for 5 minutes trying to NOT register Strategic Insomniacs...but curiocity screwed me over. So, Strategic Insomniacs is registered on Banff, I just HAD to see all the cool clan functions (especially after I saw that we get a cool blue message next to our name)!

To make banners, hmm, all I did was found a couple images, made a couple and then combined em and started playing with effects. I have paint shop pro 7 so I have a lot of option and little things to play with. There's one person offering to make them.


So I guess the anser is get an idea of what you want, then find the small imgaes that go in it. Put em together and playt with it. Or get someone else to do it for you.

The key is just play with the image, experiment.

Yeah, I just know a couple of filters that look good as finishers, then just draw random crap, filter it up for a while, then apply the finishing filters and it comes out decent.

Since you're all going into sigs, I'll suggest a few good filters that I know work as finishers:

Style > Chrome - for blurry images, makes a nice liquid-steel effect. Combine with Image > Adjustments > Brightness & Contrast/Curves/Hue & Saturation for cooler modifications. Try first applying Pixelate > Color Halftone, then Blur > Gaussian Blur, it'll create a nice plasma-like mass.

Artistic > Cutout - for solid images or certain random-color collages. Makes a nice design-like appearance.

Pixelate > Mosaic - nice pixelation, try putting it over the original image then apply Layer Masks to do image-to-pixel transition. Sometimes looks cool.

Style > Diffuse - nice for blurred images. Sometimes creates grungy images, and sometimes creates fire-like appearance.

Blur > Radial Blur - Select the Zoom option for nice effects. Can be used to create starbursts, or just make a nice "zoom" effect.

Blur > Motion Blur - gives a sence of motion.

OK, those are some nice ones. They really don't require any tweaking with the options, so it's easy to use. Play around to see how they behave, then you'll know what your initial image must look like to achieve maximum effect with a particular filter.

Just got out of a battle with a gold called Cuathon. He's pretty good, but I beat him. I gave him a draw cuz I was feeling nice. He wants to join and I said he could. Though it's great that we got 18 people on the top 100 list, I'm not happy with the overall results. Our clan has grown a lot during the past week, so it's natural that more of our members get to the top 100. Even with more members, however, our overall standings have decreased because less people are up there in the top 10s and top 20s, and meletus is no longer in the top 3. I personally dropped from 18 to 19 and will try and get more games this week so I can actually get back up and possibly get in the top 10. I think we definetly are one of (if not the) best clan of Banff, and our rankings on the top 100 should reflect that more than they do now.

Still, great job for all the members who made top 100!

Yeah apparently you NEED to play in order to keep your status or stay about the same rank.. I picked up 40+ wins and still dropped 4 places. Oh well. We are still good and clan didn't grow that much. All of the orginal members are still on the list we only picked up 4 more ppl. That I know of anyway.

KW didn't play the whole week and he's still 1st. It's just that the rest of the players played more, and therefore pushed us down (since I've spent most of the games playing other SIs).

I dont know, as far as I know Kwarrior only has 13 or 14 losses, which means the rest are wins(Im pretty sure he has 0 draws)> Most people have already more losses and not nealry as many wins so it will be hard to boot him out of the top spot. :)

First off, forget not that I am still the one an only DWarrior, just under a different name, and would like to be referred to as such. HeMightBeNeo is a temporary alias.

Second, our member rules are seriously outdated. I propose the following be removed:

Weekend Warriors and the all nighters and late nighters
(Online mostly between 8 PM to 7 AMers. CST)
Anyone with 75%+ Winning Ratio
Anyone can kill a noob. We must mold better opponents.

The first one is useless, since our clan is too large and we have people on around the clock

The second one is outdated due to the new system. We could leave it as "above 750 rank", as to eliminate the losers.

Finally, "noob killing" is no longer necessary, since it adds no rank whatsoever and is therefore just a waste of time. "We must mold better opponents" is expressed in "Promote better game play".

"Then Play Some of the following Si Recruiters:" should be changed to simply "Play the following SI Recruiters"

"some" just makes it sound worse, and since the recruits need 7 "yes" votes to get in, it's logical that they need to play AT LEAST 7 of the recruiters.

Anyway, here are the proposed rules

Must meet the following:
Above 750 rank
Golds that will help convert grey to Golds or Greys looking to become Golds
Promote better game play
No whiners or runners
Willing to have fun and enjoy the game
Cannot be a member of another clan on Banff

Then play the following SI Recruiters:
1. Rescorlian
2. Bigmikeasdf
3. nads
4. Bobo The Fool
5. Jon the Don
6. Kospades
7. DemonicGod
8. Rogue_wolf
9. Cobra9
10. Meletus
You will need 7 "yes" votes to get in. Post here for consideration.

The current rules sound very weak because of phrases like "meet some of this" and "do some of that". You should have stricter guidelines.

I'm okay with change, but I have noticed that there were more SI's on during Christmas Break(a little over a month ago). That was when I joined and I was able to stay up til 3 am. Now that school has started, I can't be on past 10 pm. So DWarrior proves some good points. I still think that the standard for 'Late nighters, Weekend warriors' needs to stay, hence our name Strategic Insomniacs.

Onto the next subject. I got out of a battle with Traabi less than 24 hours ago(where I was victorious:D), and he seemed to have changed his mind about joining SI. Oh well, his loss.

About the recruitors. It needs to be updated. I haven't seen John_The_Don in ages, and KoSpades has left SI. We currently have 8 recruitors. 7 out of 8 is not good odds. I think this issue should be addressed.

Scorpion: 2 yes votes, 0 no votes. You might be able to get full SI. SI Juniors will be a bigger possibility though.

These are not definite answers. You both need to play some more SI Recruiters.

I will say SI is the ONLY clan i've ever been in the whole time I've played TAO. There's a reason for this. I love it, and could not imagine being anywhere else. The atmosphere suits me very well, light hearted and laid back, just how it should be in a game we play for fun. The guys are skilled, helpful, nice, and will give you crap just for the heck of it :P There are no stat whores, I'm pretty much the only one :P We have a good time and help each other get better, I couldn't ask for anything else in a clan.

If you are likeminded, I suggest you tryout.
