Hi,
I'm new here. I played chess all my life, and I stumbled upon this a few days ago. I like the game very much. This is my first time in a place like this, so sorry if I do anything I shouldn't.

No, you were right in making a thread to introduce yourself. What not to do is make useless threads and stupid posts. Make sure you think before you post anything. And of course, welcome.

I know almost nothing about this type of thing. I was actually going to ask if what it is called is a forum. I wasn't sure how to type either, I thought everyone would be typing with bad spelling and grammar since this is probably more geared towards kids. Thank you for the welcome, Mitosis.

Thank you, W-Mac'. Can somebody tell me how to personalize everything on my name? Such as the location or the pictures and those types of things?

Hi Fenrir,
At the top of the page you should see a drop-down menu labeled 'Quick Links.' It's located next to 'Log Out.' There you can customize various things.

Thank you, Devast8. I got some of it. What are the pictures under your name and at the end of your postings?

The images under the usernames of some users here are called 'avatars.' There are a multitude of default ones available should you want one. You can also upload your own.
The images at the end of some users' posts are images that have been inserted in their profiles using the following code:

I'm not sure whether or not you are familiar with image-uploading.

I normally never use computers, I only started using one a few months ago. So I'm new to all of this. Thank you for the help.

I figured out the avatar. Now I guess I'll look around and decide if I want one of the images under my posting. Thank you for your help.
