I will ask Seed if you knows how to code a big hand the comes out and grabs your mouse if you are going to close the game:)

How would you code something that makes it so you can't close the window? The computer coding would have prevelance, wouldn't it? Plus, how would it guard against fatal errors, the most annoying of all things while playing the game?

Not to mention the fact a good deal of people have modems. Disconnections are real annoying, even when i'm losing i'd rather not have my opponent get disconnected. That's usually the main source of people 'backing' out of games.

Couldn't it be programmed so that when the client closes connection, you get a lose?

the thing is, that when you back out, you DO lose, thats why people are upset about disconnects. it just doesnt say anything when they leave, but if you check your stats, you'll see you have the win

oh thank god, i though that if your enemy backed out it just didn't count the game... christ i'm glad i am still getting those wins!

actually, I think the idea of posting a battle "to the death" asking people for a battle to the death. They would still be able to disconnect for TAO but they could not surrender.

First, I don't agree that most of these are disconnections. Happens way too often that the other player leaves as soon as they lose a unit or when the battle starts going against them.
Second, just having it recorded as a loss is not sufficient. Obviously they don't care, and it's still very annoying to players like me not to be able to get a game because everyone plays two turns and quits - happened to me eight times in a row one evening.
BTW, one player told me of a rumor that you got free units if you started and quit five games in a row - so you know they're doing it intentionally.

There may not be a way to keep them from closing the window, but there could be more disincentives. How about, quit five games in a row and have your account disabled for 24 hours?
Just an idea.
