Recently I played a 1050 grey named rico. It was one of the best games of my life. It was close, but I lost. What did I do wrong? He played very defensively with a bw and an lw in the back. I quickly attacked, lost a won a knight lost a scout, that I think was the reason I lost. I kept my DMW throughout most of the game with my BW. But I could never just damage his units because of his two clerics. So at the end it was 2 knights each, I had an assassin and chanty, he had a witch and scout. He still had his two clerics. The chanty was weak because of the scout, so that just almost killed one knight, later I killed that knight and it was knight vs. knight and scout and two clerics cause I had none. But unfortunatley, rico won. But from this rough description what did I do wrong?

You lost your scout.

What I would do against a very defensive player like him is to attack from both sides, front and side. Try to kill one of his clerics with your scout and knight and while he is trying to protect his cleric, move your witch closer but within your BW range.

And the rest, strategy.

Against 2 clerics you did the right thing, you MUST attack. He also had 2 wards so he was lacking in mobile damage units to defend with so you should win easily if you get the offensive. You said you lost your knight and scout, im just wondering what you got. If you go in and penetrate you should easily get his 2 clerics and witch. From that point you can retreat, probably having lost 2 units if he defended well, but you will still win. You can play defensively, picking him off with your scout if it's still alive or otherwise organizing hit and runs maximizing your cleric advantage. If you can do this he will be forced to go offensive, but your wards and chanty now come into play.

From what it sounds like your attack was too uncoordinated and it failed. Attacking agianst 2 clerics should not be hard, but it must be planned well (hint: 1 knight and 1 scout will NOT work).

My view is that you NEED your scout. you pick off one cleric, and then deal damage to the other. one of my other thoughts is to let him come to you, except for your scout. if you can get him to make him break his defensive strategy, he will be much weaker. your scout is key here, to pick off one or both of the clerics, the witch can be useful, but make him break apart his strategy

Sorry but this is wrong (except that you need your scout). The LAST thing you want is for your dual cleric opponent to go offensive on you. Do you know how hard it is to kill knights with 2 cleric backup? Consider... Attack, heal, attack, heal, attack, heal, retreat... the other knight takes over. His scout is in the back waiting to hit your bward or chanty. Meanwhile you just lose your witch/chanty/cleric/scout before you can kill a knight or two.

As for using your scout to pick off the clerics, this is wrong. You need your knights to do the dirty work. He will have a lightning ward, can heal twice before your scout hits again (so it will take at LEAST three hits to kill one) his barrier ward to barrier any cleric that might be about to die, etc. Meanwhile your scout will be vulnerable to attack. You need knights to be in there mopping up any witches and both clerics. They only have 1 turn recovery, and the scout can handle the bward or finishing off a cleric when your knight is blocked off if he needs to.
