What would you do if you could buy TAO?

Just a little discussion on what changes YOU would make if you owned TAO.

Personally, there is little i would change for the game itself, as that is best left in the hands of Seed (with a little whipping action).
Just about the only thing i would change would be website and game interaction. Such as updated news section, maybe featured reviews by players and such.

Another question you might ask, is how much do you think TAO is worth? As in, if I handed Bills $XXXXX, would he sell it. (Maybe even Bills can add a price tag. ;) )

I never really thought of this...but if I could I would also get a review from the players, I would also make the forum more open to talk. I only use the forum to get my name out as a banner maker but if I were to post something in General Discussion it would get closed.

So if I had anything to do with the site I would try to expand the forum so that there wouldn't be so much discussion on what is posted in the right section and what is not.

Aside from that... I'd like a better layout for the site, the arcade thing that Vash was talking about, and a forum currency thing would be kewl... I'd try it out to see how it worked first though. Prizes now and then, and maybe a HUGE amount of currency able to be traded for a muddy or somthing (so large that few people could get it). :) And other things you could buy that wouldn't cost quite as much.

Hmmm a few changes I woudl make:

Additional chat lobby features for both grey and golds.

private tells, friends lists, ignore features, etc


Second, more play options:

Moving BR to Grey units
Adding the best of the ebst CAU units to the mix

Adding a second option of play, "Masters Mode", where the Unit Limit is doubled (20 instead of 10). This would be on a separate server. The following would still apply:

current "gold" unit limits would be in play (1 dragon, 1 furgon, etc etc)
"grey" units would gain the following:

Starting Units
-----------------------
5 Knights to start
2 Scouts to start
4 Pyros
2 Witches
1 Cleric
2 Beastrider
2 BW
2 LW
2 assassin
2 chanty

(this is a rough list, changes would likely need to be made to ensure balanced goodness for starting units)

There is no way it is worth $500,000 to buy Bills rights. You'd still have to be paying Seed for the licensing and design work. You;d still have the server and bandwidth costs. You'd still have staffing costs.

An offer of $20,000 starting out is far more realistic point of view of buying an established internet business site like TAO.

well i think theres like 400 golds that pay(its higher than ud think, i remember when rev said how many peeps excisted there and it was around there or higher always)

thats 24k a year. but i have nooo idea how muc hservers cost and stuff like that.

but anywase, the thing i would do to change it is make tactics core a reality, but make it tie more int otao, liek a single player vs. of tao.

you could get stats from this and it would be a cool thing to do when the servers are absent of good players.

of course, im not sure if you could even make the program(such as the one in chess games) that would be good enough to consistantly beat most players

I would make a third party that would be able to watch the game as it is going on..

Instead of people spamming up clan chat sayin "what's going on?" and distracting the players..they could just watch themselves..but not be able to speak to the players throughout the game, unless they are in the same clan.

Actually he would not..there are those that are hardcore that no matter what is changed it wouldn't matter...as they love the game....people did not leave in droves when the GA was first on...actually the paying membership numbers increased.

I would change it back too. I would also add more units...like a new unit every 4-6 months.

I would also move the business to a country with a more favorable tax rate.

have at least ten running servers. One would be a tournament server where all accounts could be used.

ADVERTISE on other sites as well as gaming mags and have TAO merch.

have it so once you registered/created your name it is reserved on all servers as a grey.. If you wanted to go gold on another server it would cost $2.00 instead of 5.00 a month for each ADDITIONAL server.

have Bronze/Silver members. Greys who pay to keep to their stats and unit drops. Also at a reduced rate.

have meletus

get rid of the banner ads on the tops of the page.

send out a hunting party and get theburning to be here more.

have it so when you moused over someone you could see their stats.

Have the leaderboard be updated daily.

set up automatic removal inactive greys after 25 days of inactivity. (unless a gold account is owned on another server)

free beer for mods/admins on thursday.

And thats just the stuff I would do on the first day. :P

I would also organize a TAO get-together for each continent, in which I'd rent out an exspensive hotel, and charge each TAO'er half the price to stay. The get-together would consist of getting to know one another, sharing tactics, and just partying in general.

But that would be if I owned it . . .

1) I'd make it two player. (Obviously)
2) Add Tactics Core and Tactics Genesis into it.
3) And I'd sell the copyright to Microsoft and Sony, because they have online enabled consoles.

That would be a worthwhile game.

Oh, this leads to another thing one could do after purchasing TAO! Donate some of its [TAO] money to a "Cure Wolf-Boy's New STD Charity".

I wouldn't fire bills, as he hasn't really done anything that bad. Without him these mirror servers might not even exist. I would reinstate DivineRight, but at the same time keep sergiy. From the time where DivineRight became most active (after most of our first round moderators became inactive, bills left, seed left) not many changes occurred in TAO community. DivineRight was just here. He actually associated with the members. Heck, he even put up with my crap and unbanned me over 10 times! What about sergiy? Sure the man doesn't associate with us as much as DivineRight did, but then again he's doing better than bills, and we sure as hell have seen alot more updates since he has came.
Another thing I would do if I purchased TAO would be to create a "Support Team" group. For those members who are extrememly active and helpful (Megabyte, Jeffery, Office_Shredder), but not quite moderator material (or they refuse to be moderators). Meh. My 43.2 cents!
