Well first off I would like to congratulate all the people who were picked for the new In-Game Modship.
The only one I am even happy with is Bludz and I guess LT.
I just have a few things to say.
I am not saying I should be mod but here are my opinions on what is going on.
1) Pretty much everyone makes fun of Armageddon including the mods. They call the server full of noobs and the place for boosters and spammers. Here are a few examples,
Great Lakes - the party spot
Banff - home sweet home
Army - the crack addict's basement
Great Lakes - The Strategy Geeks.
Banff - Stat Whores, But The Cool People Hang Out There.
Armageddon - Spammers, Boosters, Cyberers, Inuyasha Fans, Weird ass usernames, and home of the noobs.
Great Lakes- Home to the legends!(not the server) and have the best laugh
Banff- The place to go when you need weed, Or to talk to Max :)
Army- The server that just sucks plain and simple
That is just a few that were easy to find.
2) All you people ever do is call Army the place for boosters and spammers. Then why not pick a person who you KNOW will moderate Armageddon and not their home server? Because an Armageddon person will moderate their home server, too. Meaning, Armageddon.
3) The mods and admins make the same mistake every time. And expect a different result. You pick mods who will NOT go on Army because they dont CARE about a server they dont play on or know anyone who plays on it.
4) The cheating that SUPPOSEDLY happens there will not be controlled by a mod at the top of the list because, NEWS BREAK : The mods will NEVER go on in Armageddon. I have seen Hugh on in Army about 3 times. I saw max on in Army 2 times. One of those times was for about 2 seconds. So by picking people who are NOT from Army you are just picking people who will NOT moderate Armageddon lobby.
5) These picks are fine if all you care about is Great Lakes.
So why not just pick someone who you KNOW will moderate Armageddon lobby? I dont care who! Just as long as they would be moderating in Armageddon and not over in a different server like all of the other mods.
In conclusion, Pick someone from Armageddon!
I have my mouse hovering over the Submit New Thread button trying to decide if I should Submit this or Not.
Meh, I guess you guys know my decision.

We don't know eachother very well. At the point where you're assuming I won't moderate Armageddon because I'm from GL, you're just as bad as anyone who assumes you can't play well because you're from Armageddon. If you have a problem with me as a person, I can live with that. If you have a problem with me because I'm from GL, then I don't understand how you can criticize this.

I can assure you that I personally will split my time evenly between the servers. Of course when im socializing ill tend to go to GL more... but ill eventually even level that out too.
I will be fair on all servers, because they all have strengths and weaknesses... nothing/noone is perfect.

Well I see teio, and muscleman on Army once in a blue moon... And I do agree with you for the most part.
I think everyone chosen will do well, I do agree some other members might of been better choices, because their more experianced. But I wasn't in that position, so just trust in the people that were in the position making the choices. And I don't think this is worth arguing.
we realy should have a mod from army, for both forums, and TAO though... both Army, and the army board are pretty ignored.

I agree with you Bull, but look.
We had xerent, and snarr.
They cared about army. It didnt change much, Noobs are attracted to the dragon. "0h dr4g0n l3t5 g0 th3r3"
I love Armageddeon, it's my homeserver, But, all im saying is. . .Theres enough respected members there to take screenies and send them into the mods, We have mods that control that, Aro and Hugh are really the only mods I see in actual servers, the rest are always in rev, Duffman was always in army, You gotta look at the past, admins choose who they think will be good enough, yeah, Army is now the n00biest server ever, but look at our past, it was bound to happen:
_OUTKAST_ - Greatest clan, ever.
Phoenix Reborn - Strong, Great, powerful (Hey, we had Xaos.)
Dragon(Hell)Fire - Great clan, very powerful, (They had Megabyte/Shaman/A.F.I.)
We were great, We were just bound to fall.

Each mod...News flash bullcat, there are new mods now. Why is an armageddon player more likely to moderate army than any other player? Before you think of the question as stupid, really consider it. Would you rather mods be picked on merit and how much they deserve it, or would you rather they be picked because they chose the Dragon instead of the Scout when they first started playing. I'm going to moderate all three servers, and if you don't like where I come from, then you're just going to have to learn to accept me, because I'm not going anywhere.

If there is a moderator logged on people are going to be afraid to boost because they know the mod will probaly be watching.
But guess what, mods are never on in Army so no one is intimidated. So they just feel free to boost.

If you actually read my whole first post Mr. Mod.
You would see that I said I dont care who just as long as they are moderating the Armageddon lobby. And obviously, someone that has love for Army would be much more likely to mod the server.

bullcat - your concern is perfectly valid. However, the other benefit of addint in-game mods is that we will be *on*. Meaning, you can hop onto GL at almost any time and find someone to help you. I have an account already in Army and will watch from that instead of a mod account. Trust me, I know firsthand how these things work. Heck, I suggested the idea of in-game mods bc I was annoyed that bad boys played nice whenever a mod came on.
Just, come seek me out, and I promise I will help as best I can.

Edit:

I usually do not need help as I know this game just as well as anyone else.
The point of a mod on the server is so that they can intimidate the people into not boosting while they are on. And answer questions for the in-experience players.

Nobodys saying you guys won't make excellent mods, but the fact that sergiy chose (yet again) nobody from army sucks. Not on purpose Im sure, but I do think there should have been at least one real Army member. The truth is most people prefer to stay in their own server for the most part... Im sure you guys will get on army, helping us out, but it would have been easier for someone to moderate army if sergiy had chosen a person that knows army.

It is about Armageddon and how there are no moderaters that ever log on the server. But they themselves call Armageddon the home for boosters and spammers. But do those other mods do anything to stop it?

Being a mod is not about having a cool green font. It is about willing to help people and be able to make correct decisions. Prepare to be bugged with hundreds of silly questions and requests every day. If you can easily be annoyed then it is definitelly not for you. If you would like to get a free gold account then please skip this thread also, mods won't get them.

This is for all mods. New and Old.
And if these new mods are anything like the last mods picked.
I am pretty sure not too many people from Armageddon are going to be happy.
Edit: But picking someone who has love for Army would have pretty much secured the fact that at least one mod would be moderating Armageddon lobby.

I log on Banff about 4-6 times a week. I see a mod online about 1-2 times a week.
That could be because of one main reason...
The moderators, up until very recently, had nothing to do with in-game properties. Moderators had in-game bonuses, but never had in-game modderating power, but forums instead. This staff marks the opening of the first in-game moderating staff, with the older active moderators only recently getting in-game moderating properties.
And so you whine about Mods who have not yet been mods for even 24 hours? Who haven;t even had a chance to log into the servers for more than a few practice runs.
We haven't even had practice runs. Accounts haven't been modded yet.

Moderators are online quite often, perhaps your just not online at the right times?
I see Muscleman almost every time I log into GL, I don't know whats goin' on, maybe we just log in at the same time, like, a coincidense? As for Banff, I never go online there, so I wouldn't know. And as for Armageddon, xerent comes online on the Teio account quite often I think, though, xerent is retired . . . And I do see Muscleman come on . . . Xerent just goes on Teio to chill for a while, and try and find some old skool TAO'ers to hang with. He doesn't really moderate, and for all the golds, you can go to Revelations, and find him online quite a bit.

I have an account in AK Armageddon.
In fact, I was a 4-hour-a-day regular on Armageddon from August until about 2 1/2 weeks ago, when I moved back to GL.

I;m going to work hard to get our colour changed, I want to be green!
That would be cool. The pink just makes you look like the PIMP squad. It works for monkus, but not the rest of you.

We're not pink anymore. Now we're purple--the Gay Pride color.
But really, the color doesn't bother me, as long as it isn't grey. Or gold. Besides, chicks dig secure men.
Or so they say. :bb:

EDIT, IN RESPONSE TO THE POST BELOW:
Here is what I was trying to say. I was not saying anything like the other mods should not have been picked. I was saying that Armageddon needs a mod that is going to Moderate Armageddon server lobby and that we KNOW isnt going to be on a different server because that is where their friends are. Almost all of the Armageddon members agreed with me in this thread because they pretty much understood what I was saying.
You again assume the worst of us. What makes you think we're just going to flock to our friends' server? Do you really have that little confidence in the new TAO in-game modders?

I had some faith in the last batch of mods picked and it didnt do any good.
It is just annoying that the mods and admins are just making the same mistake and expecting to get a different result.

Resolution to entire conflict:
Mods should be impartial. Server loyalty doesn't mean much, especially when it's a disfavorable quality in a moderator.
Moderators will be picked based on merit. We will try to moderate all servers equally. No moderator will be chosen based on arbitrary details, such as play style, server origin, etc. We want the best possible moderator team.
You may also notice that all mods chosen are male, or come from certain clans, or you may notice that they don't come from army. All I notice is that these guys that I'm going to be working with are a bunch of great people who I can trust to put forth the same effort I will into protecting these servers. That should be enough.

I'm sorry, but this misplaced feeling of misplaced trust does not justify persecuting this batch of mods before we are even moddered.

bullcat has a point. I rarely see mods on army myself. This may be because of so much spammers and such. If there is a mod online, even if they're afk, people will be intimidated as bullcat mentioned. This will result in a clean and quiet lobby and nobody will try and do anything illegally.

I never even said anything to insult the new mods.
I just disagreed with the fact that there were no Armageddon mods because everyone just makes fun of the server and the mods are rarely online compared to the other servers. So how is the server going to get better without mods online?

There are no GREAT LAKES mods either. There are just mods.
I disagree with you bullcat - I don't believe it is the role of a mod to "intimidate" anyone into not boosting. That might be a side effect, but I hope it isn't the intent of mods.
Clan leadership and modship are two completely different things for me which will not be intermingled mehopes.

I think just picking 2-3 people per server would have been easiest but hey, i'm scrubbish!

Interestingly enough, I checked each server to see which ones had mods. The count came out to be:
Great Lakes - 0
Banff - 1
Armageddon - 1
Revelation - 2
So much for that theory :)

ahhh, here's the whining rant I was waiting for someone to do
I suspected it would come AFTER the announcements and completion of the applying process.
I'm not gonna even bother to read it, just ignore the entire thing and call yah a whiner Bullcat. Get over it and move on. Believe it or not, your happiness with the mod choices likely isn't an issue for most people.
Besides which, if you accept the stereotype, then expect it to stick. Bull, you call Army the crappy place, and seem to accept it (just choosing to whine about it). What can you expect then?

read the first post, he simply uses multiple references, almost a good dozen times saying how others call army a bad place or some other unflattering reference.
Obviously he must believe it, since I don't really see him refuting it or claiming otherwise, just whining about it.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. But Bullcat makes a point, no one really moderates Army too often.

Everyone badmouths army just because they can. I'm sure only a few people truly think you guys are where all the noobs are at . . . which I know isn't true.
I know people on army, it's a fun time when the right people are online. However, it's just the amount of people I know on each server which leads me to judge how "fun" it is. I spend the same amount of time on army as I spend on any other server, except rev . . . 'cause rev is just 20 times cooler just as max2k106.

all that aside, we're missing the important thing here.
Its just a damn server. Really, do some of us have some sort of innate pride in what server we started on that we must be defensive of it all?

To: mega, T... r u guys with me?
Well first off I would like to congratulate all the people who were picked for the new In-Game Modship.
The only one I am even happy with is Bludz and I guess LT.
I just have a few things to say.
I am not saying I should be mod but here are my opinions on what is going on.
1) Pretty much everyone makes fun of Armageddon including the mods. They call the server full of noobs and the place for boosters and spammers. Here are a few examples,
That is just a few that were easy to find.
There are times that I say to myself "Bullcat is a cool dude".
There are other times, LIKE RIGHT NOW, that I say to myself "Bullcat is a big ole whinny baby"..:crybaby:
You weren't picked as a mod Bullcat0...maybe because Seed or whoever decided that you might abuse your power and that it may go to your head...I don't know.
I do know that you are hurting your chances in the future by crying about it now.
Let it go...And Join me in Wishing those that were chosen well.
