Well there could be more detail, but losing to luck sucks.

Um ....go other guy! Anyone who can win with default form is skilled. Unless it was "pure luck" in that case I would be semi-ticked off.

I like the default formation. It's a good formation for the grey game. It isn't the "best", but I'd like to prove it can take a beating if you want a game.

The Default form is the one form I hate to play more than any other, mostly because I know that if I played with my first form ever I would own it so bad.

Hahaha, that guy was actually me, and i have three things to say:
1. Luck wasn't the reason of your lost, thats just a sad excuse.
2. Default is the best form, grey vs grey, and now more with game changes.
3. If you want a rematch just tell me.

its not the best, but its good.
the luck in this game is kinda sucky though.

If two players with similar skill level battle, the luck could be who decides who win. But a good player vs an average, good player should always win, or atleast almost always.

its not the best, but its good.

Ok, thats your opinion, what would be the best?

Actually, "best" depends on the user. I would certainly prefer a pyromancer to a witch.

TACTOHOLIC, are you Taoaholic or something on gl or banff? I think I played you once with the default.

Seems to be the standard tho...

And as for a pyro to a witch??? Come on

Default > you. People that are good as default, can beat anyone. (Any gray, more like).

Ok, im going to adress a few things that are bothering me now:

Pure_caffeine, you are a cocky person, who makes awful threads, who DEFINITELY hasn't read the forum rules, please stop the first 2, and do the last.

You siggy: Wayta quote yourself
Your playing ability: Until you can put up, shut up!

Records! I think you went from 3 boxes to one in 20 posts... congrats =/

I recorded my rating as it fluxed... 10, -90, 250, 230, 180, 150, 120, 90 as an approximation.... so i went from 1 green, to almost 2 red, to 3 green, to 2 green, back to where i started from.... but I am working on improving.... its just one of the things I am a failure at

edit about 15 minutes later...
oh no! I think im starting to get good at being nice!!! im not posting my bad comments! is the apocalypse is coming???!!!!
edit about 30 minutes after origonal post...

I happen to enjoy using the defualt grey form. Until i get a few unit drops, then i will customize a form for myself.

Luck is a horrible thing to lose by, take it as an experience not of failier, but of determination to destroy newer players with incredible ammounts of luck.

Couple of things. First- I love the default form. It is best by far. I have gotten to 1300+ with it in a week with about 10 loses. 7 of wich were to golds. Second, I don't realy rely on luck to win, so it has never been a probablem to me. What I mean is, to do things that are garunteed bring success. I don't bother with taking "lucky" shots. And on top of that, I am among the luckiest people alive, ask most anyone that I have played.

Funny...the game was adapted to eliminate any semblance of luck involved and YET some people continue to complain with blind determination.
Just goes to show...people love wine.

Calon

The default form is kinda deceiving... it looks so easy when you are up against it mainly because 8% of the people who are using it are new to the game and attack LW's and such... but thats not the case.

-Not to highjack but...

If you want to try it out its pretty fun... I play around a 1400ish level and I can beat 1200's with it sometimes. I usually start calon over (Calon1, calon2, calon3 etc) at 800-900 score to keep those surprises coming =)... (btw, I do not always play with default set but always no drop).

It is very spread out and you have vulnerable mages on either side, but they are not without support (knight and assassin to one side, knight and scout to the other) who you can help you get them into safe positions.

The first thing you DO NOT want to do is attack with mages first. You are not set up to attack. Look for a good safe place to stick your mages temporarily.

With the default form there is a "great divide" usually about 5 squares in between you and your opponent. You can kill just about anything if they come solo.

I usually try to get a knight hit first, and this either damages them or sets them up with some neg blocking. Then start attacking (retreat style, IE not moving foward) with your mages. The finish shot can be made by an assassin or scout if they are low blocking.

If they come foward with the scout then move the middle knight back one to block the 5 away one over shot. Your other two knights are set up to block the chess knight shot and you have extensive fire power on the outsides if they want to come at a 45 degree angle, at which time you can also move your cleric to the other side of the board to recover.

If they are stacked in a corner defense on one side - Remove your mages from that side and corner your cleric opposite. Otherwise, expect their scout to pop out beside their LW to lob arrows.

The name of the game is "organized retreat" not unprepared attack.

Never, I repeat, never advance your mages from the default position at game start. Move stuff back and let them come to you and find themselves isolated 5 squares from their support with no where to run.

Default is a decent form, but different people are better/worse at using different forms I think. Nice win TACTO :)

Default grey vs gold wins are the best!

Yeah, you beat me... I wasn't paying attention because of your default-like formation and didn't take you seriously until it was too late. Got caught at my own tricks!!!... but I lose often at work simply because I'm not paying attention and studying the opponent between moves.

If you would like a rematch I'd be happy to reciprocate. I garranttee you that was not an accurate representation of the Calon's... but if you're satisfied so am I. :)
