while I don't aprove of jumping noobs (actually now that i think i don't know why i am helping jumpers), the odds are a person with a complex name won't be able to remember it, and more experianced greys will find it easier to remember a shorter or less complex name. so if they have a more complex name, (one with many random letters and numbers and symbols, († is commonly known)) they will likely be newer

I find that people with crosses in their name are more experienced, most people don't know how to type a cross in when they are new.

Most experienced players know this after playing for a while. If you are a commited player to one name you will use it no matter how long it is. But jumping noobs can lead to getting drops if you are able to stay on long enough. If you have a good and active clan chat (if in a clan) you can teach a noob more about the game. Spend time during the game teaching them how to bomb or things you might be setting them up for after you have some advantage. You can also chat with your clan. The longer you are on with the noob the better chance you have at getting the drop since you are in a game you know you will win when it happens
